just for laughs, tell your best and worst memory as a Saints fan.Hope to here from some older Saints fans, too.
Worst would have to be Russel Erxleben in I think 1979,taking a dive and falls on his butt instead of tackling the punt returner for the Jets.Erxleben was drafted in the first round, yes that's right,we drafted a punter\kicker with our first pick.If he makes the tackle the Saints would likely have won that game. The Saints would've made the playoffs for the first time in there history with that win.
Best is between the 2006 Mondaynight game against the Falcons and the 2006 Playoff game against Philly,I was at both. The blocked punt against the Falcons was the most electric play I have ever witnessed in the dome. The jubilation after the Philly win was indescribable.Hope to feel that again.

Worst: Haslett/Brooks era around 2000 all we had to do to make the playoffs was win ONE of our last 3 games of the regular season. Two of the games were against the worst teams in the NFL that year, the browns (one win) and the bengals (2 wins) we lost all 3 games and missed the playoffs.
Best moment: In one offseason, getting a new coach (Sean Payton), drafting Reggie Bush, and Free Agency landing us Drew Brees, I just knew for years to come we were going to be a serious contender.

Worst had to be the game in the Dome with the Falcons (don't remember the year, have tried to wipe it out of my memory) when they hit the last-second Hail Mary to beat the Saints.
Best was a few years ago in the Georgia Dome when the Saints obliterated the Falcons.

Whole draft for Ricky worst. Free agent Drew Brees, We finally had a QB, best.

Worst Moment: Not sure the year, but it was around 1993. We were beating Green Bay by I believe 1 point. Brett Favre completed two consecutive long passes to Shannon Sharp, setting themselves up for the game winning field goal.
Honorable Mention: Loosing to the Browns who completed that bullshite hailmary pass to the side of the endzone.
Best Moment: Atlanta, 2006

Worst: 1A-Carney's missed extra point after the miracle play in Jacksonville. 1B- Haslett's refusal to play Delhomme when Brooks was suffering from a shoulder injury in 2003. We needed one win out of three games to make the playoffs.
Best: Monday night, September 25th, 2006.

Rather than best or worst, how about funniest?
When Danny Wuerffel had his helmet kocked sideways.

Best: The first playoff win in 2000. I have video and audio of the play and Jim Henderson's call of it where Brian Milne recovered the fumbled punt. I think Jim Henderson cried a little. It was awesome. I still get chills listening to that call.
Worst: God, as a Saints fan I don't even know if I get that upset about them losing anymore. I mean, it's just expected right?? The extra point after the River City Relay could definitely be a candidate, though.
Best period of time as a Saints fan: Late 80's/early 90's. I was a young kid in love with the Saints and they actually gave us something to cheer about!!

In an attempt to pin down the year of that Brown's hail mary against the Saints (1999), I cam across the following list. The Saints have been involved in four hail mary plays in their history. They were on the wrong side of three of them.

All caught up in this season, I almost forgot how great '06 was.

There was one game (maybe SF??) where Brooks threw a screen pass to Ricky Willams and it hit RW in the head - then it went backwards and RW was chasing the ball like crazy - always loved that one.

When Aaron Brooks got sacked. He sure thought it was funny.

No, this was the 2006 game. 31-13 over the Falcons at Atlanta. The place was rocking with Saints fans.

I can't tell you my worst memory as a Saints fan as I was young when they first started and subsequently developed suppressed memory syndrome. My first memory of any sort was after Mora was hired.

Yes, I was there for that 1978 debacle.

1978 — Atlanta Falcons vs. New Orleans Saints: The Falcons beat the Saints 20-17 on a Hail Mary pass from Steve Bartkowski to Alfred Jenkins. The play was known as "Big Ben." Later in the season, the Falcons beat the Saints again on the final play of the game after a failed Hail Mary pass when the Saints were called for pass interference. The Falcons scored on a run from the one-yard-line on the next play. The play became known as "Big Ben II." The second game was one of the few times (if not the only time) that officials called defensive pass interference on the play, even though it could be argued that pass interference occurs often on Hail Mary passes.
Wow.

Worst:
Going to my first Saints game, in 2005 at Tiger Stadium against the Dolphins, as Benson had half-assed the preparations and the product on the field was even worse.
This was especially memorable to me because of one play where Aaron Brooks kept avoiding sacks and running backwards, eventually getting sacked for something like a 30-40 yard loss.
Dishonorable mention:
The 2002 collapse down the stretch, with the lowest moment being the Week 16 loss to the 1-13 Bengals. A win would have put us at 10-5 and given us a playoff spot over the Falcons, who finished at 9-6-1 and ended up as the #6 seed.
Best:
The blocked kick recovered for a TD in the MNF game against the Falcons in 2006 that re-opened the Dome.
Honorable mention:
The Az Hakim fumble / Saints recovery in the 2001 playoffs to give the Saints their first playoff victory ever.
These are all fairly recent because I had good memories of the team from 1988 to about mid-1993. I've blocked out most of the final Mora years and the Mike Ditka era.
