I like tykee Smith. He is a pretty versatile safety.

Yea I also like Wilson, he’s just had major injuries, but his tape is excellent.

We would need a 4th round pick.

I’m aware. It’s easier to trade up just one round.

Saints should have traded down and taken 3 OL first. It’s like they don’t even want to participate in the draft. They’re so poorly run. I could draft better than they can.

2 completely different players.

If Wingo can hold up size wise I think he will be the better player.

If we move up into the 4th to take a pass catcher, which of these 4 would you prefer (in no particular order):

1) Ja'Tavion Sanders 6'4" 245 lb TE--UTexas

2) Cade Stover 6'4" 247 lb TE--Ohio State

3) Troy Franklin 6'3" 187 lb WR--Oregon

4) Brendon Rice 6'2" 208 lb WR--USC

And what would you be willing to give up to take them? Or would you not? Are there any other players you would be willing to give up capital for to move into the top half of the 4th for? Who would they be and how much would it be willing to spend?

Tanking for a legitimate QB prospect is dumbest thing you have seen?

You aren’t tired of 7-9, 7-10, 8-9, 9-8 seasons while we are 100 million over the cap, with aging stars, an terrible HC and an extremely mid QB?

I’m very aware of that. Either woukd be our 4th DT. Wingo could come in on passing downs to rush the passer or Jackson could be used in early downs to stuff the run since we had trouble with that last year. Either player would help this team in a different way.

And I agree, I’d take Wingo if we had our choice. Jackson gone anyway so it doesn’t matter.

Me too. He's tall, but obviously not a big body guy, which a lot of people think we need. But I think Wilson can be that guy to some extent. Along with our TEs, and I think, AT Perry. But Franklin is tall, which we lack in our top 2 WR. But he's fast, and more importantly, he was productive for 2 years:

'23--81 catches for 1383 yards and 14 TDs. 17.1 yards/rec

'22--61 catches for 891 yards and 9 TDs. 14.6 yards/rec

And despite his frame, doesn't miss games. Played in 14 as a freshman and 13 in both his SO. and JR. seasons. Maybe there's something with his medicals, though? Why else would he still be there

I keep referencing PFF's grades, but that's nothing to do with my trusting them more than other sites--I just pulled it up Thursday and haven't closed the tab. But they have Franklin as the BPA on their big board today, but he was ranked as their #5 WR and #29 player overall. Here's what they say about him:

quote:

Franklin, a former four-star wide receiver recruit, played in all 14 games in his true freshman season at Oregon and started every game in his sophomore and junior seasons. He is a smooth strider as a vertical receiver. He was the top explosive-play pass catcher on Oregon’s offense the past two seasons. His calling card is his ability as a vertical threat, both from the slot and the outside. Over the past two seasons, he diversified his releases and his general footwork to create separation in more ways than just through vertical speed. His play strength is a concern when fighting through the contact window and on contested catches.

I think you add him to Olave, Shaheed, Perry (who we still don't know exactly what we're getting with, but feel pretty good so far) and Wilson, and you have one of the deepest and most explosive WR groups in the NFL What would you be willing to give up for him? Assuming there's nothing going on with his medicals or off-the-field stuff. I'm sure I'm in the minority, but I'd give up next year's 3 and one of our 5ths to take him at the top of the 4th today. Turn a relative weakness (depth-wise) into a strength.

And it gives us 2 very strong groups in WR and CB (for now, anyway). I'm ok with giving up next year's 3rd, because I think we're gonna get one back for Latt before next year's draft. Day 3 picks are crapshoots, but I think Franklin's measurable plus his multi-year production at a high level P5 school mitigates the risk. Unless there's something going on with him we don't know about. Thoughts? Or are y'all cool with just waiting till Round 5 and seeing what's left?

One thing I hate about the draft is when they show the draft rooms high 5/fist bump/hug after the picks. Just stop, guys

Giants have gotten some top talent this draft. Best WR in the draft. Best S in the draft. Top 3 TE in the draft.

Don't know why they like their qb. Get all the studs you want Gmen. You have a qb who sucked in his money year.
