I need some help finding a post from here. A coworker is saying the Butler can be traded for his tender offer of 3.91 mil(or whatever it is). He said a team isn't required to negotiate a contract. I know there was a thread on it before and I am trying to find it. Thanks for the help.

Its true. But no team is dumb enough to give substantial trade value for a player who hasn't verbally agreed to terms on a long term contract.

So the pats can basically trade butler for say a sixth rounder to another team and butler would have to play for that other team for the 3.91 mil? I thought a new contract had to be worked out due to the tender he signed is only good with the pats?

Think of it this way. Once Butler signed his tender, it became a 1 year contract for $3.91 million. He's just another player on a one year deal.

This is actually a good post that makes since if everything. I can see why the saints wouldn't give them a second round pick now
