The time thing isn't too rigid. Patrick won like an axiom I often refer to- 90% of success is just showing up. He didn't join until August but put up over a 1000 posts a months. Good or bad, that is commitment. You can get a big jump if you are hot n heavy from now until the draft, then during training camp. IMO that is when heavier longtime posters dominate. After the season starts the Saintard tide rises and a lot of regulars backoff.

When free agency starts next month, I'll be fully engrossed in football again. My mind needs a break though. I usually spend this time to tell my wife she's a good looking gal, or make eye contact with my children. Good stuff.
