@RapSheet: The interest in FA LB James Laurinaitis is strong, and #Saints want to get a jump on things. NO hoping to bring him in for a visit next week

Eta: I don't get the fit. They think he can play outside a bit? Better Hawthorne type player?

Has been decidedly average in STL for a few years. Not sure if want. I think the vet presence could be good for Anthony and Kikaha maybe.

We badly need a veteran LB'er. We are plenty young at the position.

makes sense..... we have one of the worst defenses of all time, statistically, and he's one of the worst LBs in the league, statistically....

it's a match made in heaven, if you really think about it...

btw, i don't think it'll happen... thankfully

If this is hinting at more 3-4 sets, which puts Kikaha at a more natural JACK position, I'm all for it. I'll take him cheap next to Stephone, keeping Ellerbe at the WILL. Cheap is the key.

If that's the goal, I almost wish we'd sign FAs at DT and OG... then draft Ragland and Debo in 1 and 2... Debo Ragland Anthony Kikaha? Dome Patrol who?

Average ain't bad considering our LB play.

Classic Saints. We talked about Cook, Long, and Laurinaitis and most agreed that we should try to get Cook, look to get Long if price is right, and pass on Laurinaitis. The Saints bring in Laurinaitis.

@AdamSchefter: Former Rams' LB James Laurinaitis is scheduled to fly to New Orleans tonight to visit with Saints on Tuesday, per source.

I'd rather have Stephen Tulloch.

He's absolutely terrible, so he'll be a starter next year I'm sure.

With injury concerns for Tull and Sunseri, our defense needs a white guy and he might be best available.

Except for the fact that he's not even close to average. He was one of the worst defensive players in the NFL according to PFF last season despite playing behind a solid DL.
