Poor guy

"He returned from a quad injury in Week 7 and played sparingly over two games, before the team ruled him out for Sunday against the San Francisco 49ers, again with a quad." Wait a second, I have a quad...should I go get that checked out? I think the reporters at this point don't know better and believe a "quad" or an "arm" are season ending injuries for Saints players

Not that this changes anything with our team right now, but we need a MLB next year to complete the corps. MLB Zach Cunningham from Vandy come on down. Dude's a freak and could be gettable in the 2nd.

insane play

not too big of a deal. guy was only playing special teams. Stupar and Mauti's emergence has been quite timely

Laurinaitis

Will be $1.2m in dead money next offseason. The move was widely panned when it happened, and rightfully so.

Not their best move but it could be worse cost wise. Definitely time to draft a MLB

1)Didn't Laurinaitis come here without previously missing a start or a snap with the Rams?
2)Am I the only one in the world that didn't know that
Laurinitis' father is a pro wrestler?

That makes room to move an actually good player off the PUP

Dude wasn't good. We were hoping he sucked cause of injury, but it was just because he sucks. Bad signing.

It's great that Robertson and Stupar have played above average. Ellerbe is solid but never available.

It's still arguably the biggest or second biggest need on the team. We've sucked at LB since the early 90s. Pretty pathetic.

If we have healthy DBs and get a legit RDE, then I think we'll be fine on defense.

I see our biggest needs as:
1) RDE
moderate drop
2) OG
3) CB (though they'll be OK if healthy)
4) LB

And I don't trust our FO drafting a LB. In the Payton era, they've hit on a player at every position BUT QB (they haven't really been trying too hard there) and LB. LB's are fairly cheap in FA, so I say spend money there if need be, but draft other positions.

When will the saints stop kicking the tires on these washed up players?

It was worth a try. If Breaux and Rankins had been healthy all year then our linebackers may look a little better.

Laurinaitis and Champ were the only two clearly washed up players I can remember them giving deals to. Bailey's deal wasn't killer, but I think had like ~$350k guaranteed, which was stupid. Laurinaitis's is worse.

Kreutz I don't think applies. He was OK the year before, then came over to NOLA ~30lbs underweight and clearly didn't give a shite about football anymore. Not sure if he was underweight when we brought him in or what. I don't think that he was really washed up the prior season, though.

Stupar has been a VERY good signing! I knew that he was a good special teamer for Atlanta, and he was decent on Defense. But he has been a playmaker here. He is not an All Pro, but he is solid. Zero issue with him

Honestly I think we've had to settle for washed up players bc we've had no money. But you're right I really hope it stops with some cap space opening up this free agency.

I don't trust the front office drafting at any position!
