This league is built on parity(mediocrity) by design.
Exactly one half (16 teams) have records between
5-7 and 7-5 at this point of the season. We are looking at possibly our 3rd losing season in a row.
I'm imagining this team with the services of a lesser
Q.B. than say a Drew Brees and wondering with all other things equal what this teams W-L record would have been without his services. I do believe we are a better team right now than we were at the start of the season. I think its obvious we need to improve on special teams and need to add a quality C.B. a better R.Guard and a stud pass rusher. If we can't depend on this staff to handle this task I would have to agree with Hendersons Hands previous thread that without definite improvement next year then it is likely time for a change. Mediocrity should no longer be acceptable.(After that it's time to fix the Pels)

You're gonna wish we were as good as we are right now when Brees is gone.

Everybody says that like Drew has been flawless. Drew turns the ball over in important situations and our offense goes stagnant at times. It's not like our defense hasn't given us a chance to have a record well above .500. I don't buy the Saints are 2-14 without Drew Brees sentiment. If we find a good QB in the draft and continue to build on our young talent this team could be special

The NFL does not want the Saints to win enough games to make the playoffs while allowing us to win enough games to frak our draft position. These are things to consider when making your projection.

Whether the Saints find a "good QB" or the team has a curtain jerker as a QB, Roger Goodell being a vindictive individual will never allow Sean Payton to be successful despite Paul Tagliabue's findings. Unfortunately, the Saints and their fans will have to wait like the Raiders did, for the NFL "old guard" to retire.

If you stop and think about it, the Bountygate Lawsuit Concussion Contrivance is both diabolical and insidious in its inception and continuing execution, directed squarely, at the Saints organization.

??????? You are aware that our defense is ranked
26th overall and our pass defense is ranked 30th.
Thus the need for another quality C.B. and pass rusher and help at the linebacker spot. On offense try taking Brees out of the equation and see where that gets you.

all these 7-9 and 8-8 seasons with brees would have been 3-13 or 4-12 without him. Let that sink in.

i think part of blame is thanks to the new CBA with more restrictions in practice. Just cause these guys are pros doesn't mean they don't need to practice as hard. When the season starts each year the quality of play is noticeably sloppier. And because of that there are more flags. Sure there are still flat out bad calls being made but there always has been and always will be.

i mean go back and look at other seasons since the salary cap was introduced. I don't think there is a huge difference this year compared to other years since the early/mid 90's. Main thing is though its harder for teams to establish dynasties anymore. Last repeat champion was in 2003 and 2004 (New England).

we've seen the Saints make changes in the scouting dept. I think maybe Payton is finally coming around (slowly) and just maybe he'll nut up and hire a new special teams coach this year. Maybe its just extreme odd luck the ball has bounced the way it has this year but I think that's where you have to start as far as making changes. Its about the bottom line and 3 games arguably were decided by errors in special teams having to do with blocked kicks. Something is very wrong there... obviously.

Outside the LA game, the offense has not played well lately. The o lone is a huge question mark. Brees isn't going anywhere, but he's only under contract for 1 more season and you cannot discount him wanting to move elsewhere (didn't know that he actually still lives in the SD area during the off-season). Got to start finding a replacement that can be groomed.
The D's overall stats are not good, but since Ellerbee and Rankins have started playing, there has been a significant move in the right direction. Just have to hope that Breaux's struggles are related to him possibly not being 100%.
