haha what a pussy statement to make

Its the NFL. Confidence is a must. But so is good off-field behavior.

He's worth a shot. He sucks? Cut him. Low risk high reward.

Just gotta manage the media storm.

This move would also GUARANTEE us to be on Hard Knocks....

I feel like everyone is so caught up with his drug issues they forget that he sucks as a QB in the NFL. If he was 100% clean I still wouldn't want him because I don't want bad football players to get signed by the Saints.

The dude was showing great signs for the Browns. Won the job there fair and square. Its his off the field issues that derailed him.

You have to be blind to ignore the kid's talent.

I'm all for second chances and taking chances. This one is dicey though. While Manziel looks changed, he could be pulling one under us. Wouldn't help he'd be right there on Bourbon. Next is can he play? I personally think he can in the right situation. He showed signs in Cleveland but never had the things around him. He'd have Brees and Payton to groom him. Personally, I'd give him a chance in camp and the preseason, see what he does both on and off the field, then go from there.

Aaron Hernandez, Albert Haynesworth, and Josh Gordon all possessed elite talent too. After the Galette debacle and subsequent locker room clean out I doubt they are ready to take in this degree of risk and PR nightmare yet.

College talent yes.

Proven NFL starting QB talent I have yet to see.

never understood why people called not throwing to wide open receivers because you rather try and be a hero and run around looking for a "home run" on every play as talent.

if you watch all those "great plays" manziel has been credited with, he fails to throw to the open man as the play calls for, or if the guy is covered, he starts running around "without being forced to" rather then stay in the pocket and move on to the next read and find the open guy to throw to.

sure he makes WOW plays at times but quite often he has to do that because "he" makes the play break down by not staying in the pocket and making reads in progression. that works in college, it doesn't work in the NFL

manziel is a "im gonna just run around and make something happen" guy and not a true sit in the pocket and run plays as called QB

He was the 5th player in NCAA history to throw for 3k and run for 1k.

He had an SEC game, and a non-conference a game whereccounted for 550+ yards of offense (a record).

Oh yeah, he also beat that Bama defense while putting up 345 yards. Then followed it up the next year by putting up 464 yards and 5 TDs.

quote:

he broke the single season record for offensive production in the SEC with 4600 yards, surpassing Cam Newton and Tim Tebow, notable recent Heisman Trophy winners. He also became the first freshman and only the fifth player in NCAA history to pass for 3000 and rush for 1,000 yards in a season, reaching that mark two games earlier than any other player.

So sure, he has flaws, but it's obvious that he had talent

Not worth the headache associated with him
