Former New Orleans Saints receiver Joe Horn offered one of the strongest rebukes yet of NFL commissioner Roger Goodell, calling him "the devil" and saying he doesn't like to see rookies hugging Goodell on the stage during the NFL draft.

Horn, who was one of the league's more brash, outspoken personalities when he played for the Kansas City Chiefs, Saints and Atlanta Falcons from 1996 to 2007, made his comments in a wide-ranging interview with TheFootballGirl.com.

Former NFL receiver Joe Horn does not like draft picks going up to Roger Goodell after they've been selected. "They really don't know that the man they're hugging will rip their throat apart," Horn said.

"Here's what I don't like. I don't like what Roger Goodell is doing. He has so much power that he can almost shut people down. I just don't like him," said Horn, who went into his rant on Goodell when asked for his thoughts on the current state of the NFL.

"And I don't like that on draft day these kids don't know that they're hugging the devil. I hate to see kids that are lost and then happy but they really don't know that the man they're hugging will rip their throat apart. If he has an opportunity to take money from them, or there's a situation where they're guilty before they go to court, he'll rip them apart. And there's nothing no one can do about it. If the owners are happy with Roger Goodell, the fans, the media, no one can take his job from him. I hate it."

Over/under on Joe's suspension?

NFLPA agreed to the CBA, blame them for giving him so much power

I'll never sympathize w the players/CBA for complaining when Goodell has so much power. They had their chance to reign in his power, but did not make that one of their sticking points.

While I think it's ridiculous that he gets to appeal the decisions he made, it is in the agreement that everyone signed off on. So, they really cannot complain when his decisions are never overturned or when they are inconsistent.

They've defeated him several times for abusing his power

Also, he established new powers for himself outside of the CBA since then without approval from the NFLPA

The next CBA is going to be very difficult I think.
I won't be expecting the season to start on time.

Won't be as bad as the next NBA CBA fight.

In the players defense, nobody had any idea how egregious and power drunk Goodell would be. If the players don't do anything in the next CBA to reign in the commish, then I'll get on their case a lot more. Regardless of how much power he has, the onus is on him to be responsible with it.

I'd be surprised if the NFLPA didn't negotiate their way out of being able to re-negotiate the next CBA.
