Another one bites the dust

Sources: #Texans QBs coach Jerrod Johnson has informed teams interested in hiring him as an OC that he plans to return to Houston. A big development for the #Texans, as Johnson wants to finish what he started with CJ Stroud, DeMeco Ryans, OC Bobby Slowik and the organization.

It’s a good situation for him with Stroud

Makes sense too, Slowik will be a hot HC candidate next season and Johnson can take over as OC there

Would rather be a QB coach than work for DA

Good. When Allen gets fired next year they can hire Slowik as HC and Johnson as his OC/QB coach.

Like I’ve said before, who wants to work for DA? This reminds me of Oger’s last year at LSU when nobody wanted to be hired, only to be fired the next off season. It will be someone already there that doesn’t have to go through the trouble to move to only move again after we go 6-11 and 3rd place in the NFC South

I’d love Slowik as HC and Johnson as his OC/QB coach with a new QB next year!!

You guys are stupid for thinking this OC ended any other ways other than Ronald Curry being promoted

They keep moving his dumbass for Offense Assistant to WR assistant to QB Assistant

Next logical play is DA arse kisser

No one wanted Johnson, but now this board is melting down over him. I doubt seriously he was offered the job considering getsy was interviewed after him.

I've thought only 2 options are curry and gruden, people with no other options. I hope to be surprised.

Let's be real, this is a horrible job if you have any alternative option with comparable pay:
-your hc could easily get fired midway through season if things are going badly.
-you are stuck with a established qb, with no options cap wise, and that qb may or may not be overrated, but he is a vet and is who he is at this point
-the oline is in shambles, this I could see the fo assuring investment in interviews
-your 2-3 established weapons seem to be somewhat disgruntled and done with your hc
-its a small market on top of all of that, I dont think that is make or break, but the city you are going to definitely is somewhere on your pro and con list
-is the defense going to be a difference maker? Your guess is as good as mine.

At this point, if you choose to say "there's only 32 opportunities to move up." Which oc with an opening is a worse situation?

It will either be Curry or someone else who has no other options. In a normal situation, that’s your serious candidate pool for a head coach who could be out with another bad year. They probably don’t realize Loomis is dumb enough to hold on to Allen beyond 2024 and they read it as not risking their career to work for a head coach on a hot seat.

A normal franchise would have fired Allen, and possibly Loomis after this past season, knowing they probably should do it next season. Once you know you’re probably going to have to fire your head coach after one more bad year, you should just go ahead and do it now.

Underhill has said multiple times during this process: the fan's perspective of this job and the league's is totally different.

This organization has only fired one head coach midseason in over 50 years: Dick Nolan in 1980 and he had no wins that year through 12 games. Current ownership has never done it and they have had the team since 1985.

Yeah, only teams with rookie QB's can get OC's.

Yeah, only teams with all of the pieces in place can hire OC's.

Yeah, no coach will take the job because Michael Thomas, a guy who cannot get on the field and always cries and whines is crying and whining.

Yeah, the Packers, Bills, Jaguars...none of those teams have any coaches because only large market teams have the ability to hire coaches.

I'm not even sure what you mean by this in regards to finding an OC.

At this point, if you choose to say "there's only 32 opportunities to move up." Which oc with an opening is a worse situation?

Yeah, a team that only lost its division because its collection of 9 wins was different from Tampa Bay's 9 wins. Forget about all the teams that has worse records than them, like the Panthers who had the worst record in football and no #1 pick, the 9-8 Saints are definitely the worst situation in the league.

It's possible that a candidate or 2 might turn them down, but it won't be for any of the above reasons. Y'alls heart is in the right place, but your brain, as Peter Venkman once said, has gone bye-bye, Egon.

Now you know why they had to beg Pete to take the position. No one wants to come to this shitty organization. There is zero leadership at the top and it extends to the Pelicans as well.

Exactly. Like I said a month ago. I think it’s gonna be a retread or someone that’s a really big gamble where the promotion is just too big to pass up. Nobody in a decent upward position is leaving that for Derek Carr and Dennis Allen in a potential lame duck year.

And if they do, you'll just claim the hire is terrible to further your made mind.
