Odrick is just 29 and he will probably get a new job soon, even if he doesn’t find one that pays him $6.5 million in base salary, which is what he was slated to make in 2017, 2018 and 2019 from Jacksonville.

Is he worth $6M/yr? $5M?

I would think so. Has been solid every year but last when he was hurt

he might be a good pickup but it seems like "every" time we pick up a player someone else has cut, he turns out not to be worth it and was cut for more then money reasons

Not very familiar with him...I assume he would be decent vs. the run considering he's almost 300 pounds, but he averages about 4 sacks a year and his season high is 6. We need a bigger pass rushing threat than that imo, and he has injury concerns.

If we can't get a better option in F.A. or if the FO doesn't have faith in the DE's in the 1st/2nd round...then I guess he could be a decent fallback plan for the right price. Definitely shouldn't be a main target though.

I'd rather spend that 6 mil on a legit starting MLB.

That appears to be the case, actually:

quote:

Odrick is his own man, as detailed last offseason by TheMMQB.com. He says he’s not “blinded by the religion of football.” He spends his time off in Canada, which he says he prefers because America is a “gun culture” that was “built on the backs of slaves.” He has his own methods of training and nutrition, and they aren’t like those of most NFL players. He hopes to go into acting and writing after his football career is over.

According to ESPN.com, all those off-field interests sometimes caused some minor friction in the building.

There are some organizations that would be fine with all of that. But the Jaguars are now an organization run by Tom Coughlin who is very much an old-school football guy. And he wants to surround himself with old-school football guys.

Welcome Paul Kruger 2.0.

He'd be a decent backup for us I think, in all seriousness. But I wouldn't pay him much money. We could use his depth without question, but for a backup's salary at most.

Not even in the sense that Kruger is at least a rush end, whereas this guy is an older, worse version of Cameo Cam Jordan.

So hard pass. We need a legit speed rusher. Between Cam, Rankins, Onyemata, and Fairley if he stays we have the big bodies well covered.

And Cam hardly ever comes out so he doesn't need a backup (and don't say but "" and jinx it).

Kruger is a FA (and I damn sure hope he doesn't come back), Edebali is a RFA and not starter ready, and Kikaha is coming off of a major knee injury. Speed rusher is high priority.

Why wouldn't you want him back? He played well as far as I saw. I know we need a speed rusher, but a rotation of Cam, Kruger, Kikaha and FA/draft speed rusher would be pretty solid.

I don't know man. He was pretty underwhelming imo. I'd take him as a backup, but I wouldn't give him 3mil like we gave him last year.

Would rather a younger backup than a Kruger backup. Seldom saw him affect the QB. 13 games started 19 tackles and 1.5 sacks.

The 1.0 sack was against the Seahawks when a banged up Wilson basically ran right into him. Wilson was trying to get away from another defender. He's not a good pass rusher as a 4-3 DE, & his run defense is average at best.

He needs to go to a team that runs a 3-4. He sucks as a 4-3 DE.

Pretty much what they all said.

Bring back Tapp for far less money amd much better production if we are looking for a backup type (which is how Kruger played).

I don't want this guy on the team. I want someone who is committed to winning and being the best football player he can be. I also don't want people on the team that think they are oppressed and who despise America, even though they make millions of dollars here playing a game that most of us love to play for free.
