After these cuts, can anyone provide an updated salary cap picture?

TIA

We're probably 4 mil under the cap, give or take.

That's chickenshit. All four guys contributed BIG TIME to this previously dreadful franchise's greatest season. The business decision had to be made, but they all deserve respect from Saints fans.

Not really.

But maybe the offense. They'll use this to work towards signing Jimmy. More cuts will have to come, though. They'll need a couple mil to sign rookie class.

I could do without the knighting for long, overpaid players, imma-super-fan routine.

I'm happy as can be at this news. I'm a fan of the Saints, not the players. Fans have no obligation to respect the players. "That's what the money is for."

thought this was established that the rookie pay money is in a separate category. cause couldnt you then theoretically just draft someone and not sign him due to lack of money?

Why not? Doesn't make it any less important that they get released. I can still feel bad, even though its the right move.

he's making a lot.

or has he already done that?

can't remember.

I said you have no obligation. You're more than welcome to. I respect some of the players myself.

Saved:
Smith: $10.4m base + $1m roster bonus
Harper: $2.35m base + $650k roster
Greer: $4m base + $400k roster

Total saved = $18.8m. I've read that we're $17.5m over from somewhere (maybe NOLA, they aren't the best with cap figures though). Spotrac is pretty good, and if you go by there numbers (which takes into account money carried over from last season), we're about $6m under. Almost enough to franchise Graham as a TE without restructuring anyone.

ETA:
If they accellerated the signing bonuses, take off $970K in savings for Harper and $1.325m for Greer, so $18.8m - $2.3m = $16.5m, which is exactly what Duncan says. Going to wait to see if they designate one or both as a post June 1st cut. They may save those for a higher priced cut.

So what part of the team do you respect? Just a fan of the uniforms?

Maybe so. I really have no idea. They do have to fit under the cap, though.

From what I understand, there's a certain amount allotted for rookies each year, and it's already figured into the cap.

Duncan reported we saved 16.9 mil and are now under the cap but not by all that much

Also, they are expecting cap to be 126-130. Could have a couple more mil to play with once its said and done.
