I wouldn't say that at all. I think it was the fact that he was loyal to Harper, Vilma, and Smith last year(and they were loyal to us taking actual pay cuts) and they played a combined 10 games(not even a full 10) yet cost the team major cap room we could have used elsewhere last year and this year.
I think he sees that cap space outweighs leadership and loyalty now if you want to keep winning.
