How does putting up better numbers make him less talented? I guess i just don't get your logic. He has significantly more Tds than Jimmy and is a freak athlete as well.
Gronk is not a 'freak' athlete on the level of Graham

How so? Gronk has put up better numbers when healthy
Is he healthy now?

Plus, gronk has had 2 lumbar spine surgeries! If you know anything medically, you would understand the significance of this.
Which brings up a great point that endurance is a key part of a player's legacy.
Outside of the Gayle Sayers exception, most abbreviated superstar stints (like Bo Jackson's) fail to garner HOF consideration.
Jimmy's style of play or perceived lack of in-line physicality, lends itself to greater odds he'll play longer. While Gronk is winning over fans for the perception that he routinely takes on 300 lb DE's only to hurt his back & his team, Jimmy is actually on the field, down-field, catching TDs over 5-9 Honey Badgers.
Not saying Jimmy is going to the HOF or will remain injury-free, but he's on the exact same path as certain HOFer Tony Gonzalez who has proved extremely durable & productive.

Presently he is the most talented TE in the NFL.
Gates, Witten, Gonzalez all above him on the career body of work rankings. Jimmy will leave everyone behind (including Gronk's broken arse) before it's all said and done. He's got 3 more years of Brees left if he's smart and likes getting yards plus scoring TDs.

I will never forget the image of Kellen Winslow being carried off the field. That to me is an iconic image of being one of the best TEs.
I bet that was the Dolphin game in 82'; other than several Saint's games, it was the greatest game I ever saw.
The thing about Winslow was he was the Chargers primary target in every game. Fouts to Winslow was a classic combo.
Is Graham more talented than Winslow was? Maybe, but he'll be judged by his numbers at the end of his career.

Gronk is stronger; better at breaking tackles. Gonzo has better overall fluidity.
I have to agree with NIH though. I don't think we've ever seen this combo of strength, speed and leaping ability on the field.

Not IMO. There have been some old timers and not so old timers who were as talented if not more talented.

Once elite basketball SF/PF tweeters that can't make it in the NBA realize what opportunity they are missing the TE spot will be forever changed.
Honestly there should be much more elite athletes moving to football like Graham has done. There are way too many physical freaks in basketball that could be dominant on the field.

To me it is not just a TE deal its the combination of the TE and QB. Is Jimmy good yes he is but it still requires an accurate throw from the QB. The question is would Gronk or Graham be the same TE without Brady or Brees.

No. It's one thing to have the physical tools. You have to be able to play. Jimmy was a huge risk but it worked out. There are way more physical specimens that never amount to anything.
Now I do think you will see more taller, athletic tightends. We've already seen that, but I doubt they will be coming from failed college basketball players.

Jimmy is an incredible specimen, however he has not shown the best hands( sorry if Germans). This year going into week three he had the second lowest catch rate of the top 10 TE's in the league. LINK He also had the most drops of 15 with the closest to him being 10 in 12'. I know that is skewed because of the amount of targets but to compare, Tony G, who had similar amount of targets had 4 drops last year. I know he had an excuse with the hand but he continues to have issues this year Same LINK with what I calculated as 3 drops yesterday...
That being said, he is the best player on the team not named Brees.

I blame this on his extreme range. a lot of balls a regular receiver wouldn't have a shot at, he can still get a hand on. Drew puts some balls where only Graham can get it and sometimes it's a bit of a hopeful throw. I can think of 3 times yesterday where drew threw to Jimmy and it was more of a hopeful throw away than a target.

You youngsters do some research on TEs from times past.
One of the best was Mike Ditka.
ETA: On two plays yesterday Graham had a bad case of Alligator arms. He used to play basketball too.

Gronk & Graham are very good but still young. Tony Gonzalez has done what those 2 are doing over the span of 12+ years in the NFL. Not to mention, Gonzo spent most of his career on a shitty Chiefs team.

We're talking about talent, not production per say.
