Is Jarius Byrd medically cleared but refusing to play??

Saints basically think he is fine but he still feels like he isn't ready. He has been totally MIA from practices except for a jogging session on the sidelines at a practice. He is also a no show on the sidelines for the games.
Looking at his Buf stats and our lack of TOs, I thought this move made sense. Did he have "disappearing" issues at Buffalo??
Eta: to change post to a question instead of a statement.

I'm not saying that you are wrong, but are there any quotes or links to this?

Get over it people. Byrd is not playing a down this year!

I have talked to folks who cover the saints and thwre is obviously a "disagreement" btwn the player and the team.
The fact that he isn't on the sidelines or at practice speaks volumes as well.

Look, if he isn't confident in his body then I think it's probably a good idea to at least give some validity to it.

Jesus this dude. Refusing to play? How about we refuse to pay?

Gotcha, thanks for the info. Any word is he is just being cautious from his injury of last season, or is this something new that happened in between mini camp and training camp? It's just odd that he was a full-go in the spring, and now he's basically nowhere to be found.

I know he was out there jogging twice (IIRC), but isn't it the rule, or maybe just the norm, that players on PUP can't be on the sideline observing practice? I could be off there, but I thought I remember reading that.

I'd just assume leave it up to the doctors.
Players are paid to play. Being afraid to "give it a go" because "it doesn't feel right" isn't reasonable.
If the doctors are saying he's ready to play, he needs to play. If he has specific issues and the doctors agree that he needs rest, then that's all you can do.

This wasn't even a torn ACL, was it? I thought I remember it being a Meniscus tear. 11 months for a Meniscus tear? That has to be extremely rare.

You are so completely full of shite. Post link to this info or GTFO!!

I am pretty confident that they relationship btwn Byrd and the Saints is tenuous at best right now. I am also hearing that there were similar issues with Byrd while he was with the Bills.

To me, it depends on the situation. If he's out right now for the injury from last season, after being a full-go in the spring, then absolutely. But if this is something new, or he had a set back on that injury, then he needs to wait until he's mentally ready.
I always hate fans that compare their high school/rec sports injuries to pro athletes, but I've had 3 ACL tears, and surgery on each. The biggest, and last, hurdle to overcome is the mental aspect. I'm saying that as someone who plays non-contact, recreation flag football, so I would imagine the mental hurdle is even bigger for a professional football player.
We are all growing impatient with the $54 million safety not on the field, but I think a lot of backlash from fans comes from the vagueness of his situation. Not that Payton/the team owes us an explanation, but damn, it would be nice to know what is going on.

Hey man if u want to put the blinders on and think everything is on the up and up go right ahead. There are stories out there in regards to his "disappearance". I am hearing rumors about the other stuff but it definitely seems to have legs.

A friend of mine who works with the Saints alerted me of this. Something is off with this situation.

That doesn't sound like being totally MIA to me

He didn't want to play on the franchise tag and held out of camp with the injury so he couldn't get fined.
I think the Saints are being extra cautious with bin

I definitely agree, which is why I believe what you're saying.

I was just as happy as anybody when we first made the move. But after watching him in the limited action from last year, I'm nervous as shite.
whatever he has going on is one thing.
but if we don't start improving the pass rush, it won't matter who we have back there.
and once he does return, I'm skeptic of how rusty he'll be.
man, I hope the next time we break the bank for a defender, its a pass rusher or stout D-lineman.

Pretty much all of this. I tore an MCL at the NCAA level and I pretty much reevaluated everything, and ultimately made the decision to make a living doing something that wouldn't inhibit my ability to walk later in life. Glad to see another athlete on here.

He should be compared to other professional athletes. We see players come back from worse all the time. There is no excuse for a professional athlete to have a longer than expected recovery due to the "mental aspect".
