Is anyone else scared of how bad we could be on D again?

I know we are supposed to believe that with Rob Ryan, Vaccaro, and now wilson / galette starting, we are supposed to be an improved defense.

But the bottom line is that we have the same defensive players as last year, just a year older (and now with even less depth). I don't know how I'm supposed to reasonably expect these same players to play significantly better than they have the previous two seasons. I want to believe it, but I just don't think I can.

While I know lofton is a solid player (and maybe maybe cam jordan this season), there is not one single player on defense who is a playmaker, a real difference maker. Just think about how bad the offenses in this league are that can't say they really have a single playmaker.

The d-line is disruptive
Vacarro is everywhere
I think Junior will be a force

It's better than last year.

You don't think Cam is already a solid player?

Barring injuries we will be significantly better this year on D. What I like to see is the DL play and lots of gang tackling.

OP, we don't have the same players as last year.

Cam is our best defensive player. He's making the pro bowl this year.

I would not be surprised if Vaccaro gives him a run for his money as best defensive player on the Saints.

We had the statistically worst defense in NFL history last year and still went 7-9 with close losses to KC, GB, and Washington. Even a marginal improvement will make us a playoff contender.

no, you cannot possibly be any worse then we were last year. The only way to go is up.

Other than vaccaro (who will clearly play, but probably wont be a starter) and lewis (who has looked pisspoor so far), tell me about all the new defensive players on this roster.

And im gonna lol at any veteran player mentioned who cant even start on this D.

And news flash, Butler, who i was extremely excited about, is done for the year.

I think Vaccaro is gonna be good, but Jordan was our best defensive player last year and will easily be our best player after this year. He is a stud if you ask me.

The worst part of this season is going to be the Ingram-like meltdowns every time we give up a touchdown. We're not going to hold everyone to 0 points, sorry.

They are.

False. Foster, Richardson, Vaccaro, Lewis, John Jenkins, and Haralson were not on the roster last year and will see significant time with the 1st team. Gone are Sed Ellis, Shanle and Will Smith (IR).

Lets start with LBs. Hawthorne and Vilma played out of position last year at OLB in the 4-3. They have both moved inside in the 3-4 and, Hawthorne, along with Humber, is playing significantly better.

DLine. Hicks moved from 3tech DT to a 5tech DE. Huge change. Bunkley is back at a more natural NT position. Also, count Tryann Walker as a move from DT to DE and the Saints are 2 deep at each DLine position and they all play full out.

Vacarro. Carr. Foster. Walker (was on the team last year but was inactive on game days). Haralson. Jenkins.

All performed well in the preseason. All should see a good amount of snaps.
