Backup quarterback Chase Daniel and punter Thomas Morstead are vying to be the primary holder for kicker Wil Lutz with the field goal unit.

"They're competing," coach Sean Payton said. "Eventually, there'll be one that we trot out there to be with the first group, but I want to see those two getting the reps throughout the preseason and see how they do."

Must've been a slow news day.

Considering Special Teams cost us 4 games last year I am glad they are putting an extreme emphasis on this. That Denver game still pisses me off.

Just one question. Is Payton using a pencil or a pen?

You say that, but this might be the first camp in years we don't have more than one kicker or punter in camp

Nothing against Morestead but with the ability to do a fake it seems silly not to have one of the QBs as the holder.

Apparently Lutz has been looking stellar. Main improvements is he is getting consistent and tremendous height on his kicks .

When your punter used to do kickoffs, hold for kicks and be a pretty good punter and now doesn't kickoff, probably doesn't hold for kicks and is only punting average and you have a near 4 mill cap savings over your head. Lookout Thommy

you are so predictable. But it's amusing you aren't giving it up.

It will be so nice to have a steady kicker. I've been so tired of the carousel since Hartley.

Maybe not, but I think its a small issue comparatively. Not trying to start and argument with you either I know we just have differing opinions on it

You mean people want to hold? I always figured it was a chore that got heaped on the punter or backup QB out of necessity, but players would rather not do.
