Because of his age. He was carted to the locker room when he got back to the bench. Google his name and search by the last hour. Numerous sources call it a major injury. TIFWIW
Seems to me, if it is a season ending injury he may not make it back onto the field.

If it is so bad I wonder why he was allowed to walk off the field.
Not questioning the validity of the accusation, but watching him walk off on his own accord did look promising at first. We will see later this week.
Either way the Rook getting valuable time will work wonders when Armstead returns. Stay healthy from here on out and those two could wreck shite come the years end.

They don’t know when he’s on the field. I have seen guys walk off and they ended up with broken arms, legs etc. The fact he has carted from the bench to the locker room seems concerning since I am sure they had a chance to check him out a bit more.
I am a huge fan of Strief, just a classy guy who works hard and does not cause off the field issues, Will be missed for a lot of reasons if this is it. Hopefully I am wrong and he comes back.

Being "carted off" doesn't mean anything once he is on the bench. Guys get a cart to the back and come back the next game/week/few weeks all the time.
They cart them to the back so he doesn't continue to put weight on it and have to walk all the way back into the locker room. The walk over to the bench from the field is much shorter.
That said, I've heard nothing either way except for the people thinking taking the cart means he's done. Iirc he took a cart to the back in the Vikes game too and only missed two games.
This time I expect them to be more cautious if it isn't serious.

I went to church so I missed most of the game, Don’t agree with you on the cart. See guys walk to the locker that should not have.
