The fact that this thread is about saints defense and you bring up LSU

The saints defense in recent history is horrible, there is a lack of depth, the DC is unproven, and there is always injuries that they can not overcome because of a lack of depth

I hope they can make a turnaround but I'm not expecting it just yet. I've learned my lesson over the years of getting excited for offseason moves and expecting big things only to be let down.

Because every time we have one and people come in and say something super negative, they have a LSU flair. Every. Single. Time.

So when I see posts like yours, I want to see whether or not you're just negative in general (which is fair), or you're just hating on the Saints. I see it's the latter.

10-2 isn't trash but it's also not good.

I mean, this is what kills me about Miles supporters, "OH HE GIVES US 9 AND 10 WINS". This team has had one of the most consistent streams of talent of perhaps any program in the fricking nation. However, this isn't the NFL, this is the NCAA and on the college level, if you lose once, you're in trouble, lose twice and your season is basically done. Unless of course you were aiming for Meineke Bowls.

Lol I'm FAR from a miles supporter and I agree 9-10 win seasons are not great with the talent on the squad...they should be playoff bound this year but I live in the real world and I'm expecting a 10-2 season with Miles as HC

Can't get worse but I don't expect a lot of improvement either. I don't think Dennis Allen is a good DC or the answer or us.

Let's be real for a second, Browner gone automatically improves the defense. That frick stick lost the Saints games himself last season

sometimes a bad defense can add a few key players and everything just starts to flow.

I have to think yes. We had a great offseason on both sides, particularly defense. Even a top 20 defense and we're playoff bound

I think yeah, but at the end of the day the key is health. If you're down to your 6th string corner playing every other down you're gonna suck.

Yes !
Year 2 for Dennis Allen
Lewis , Swann, Williams healthy at CB
Added Bell at S
Added Laurenitis and Robertson LB
Added Failey and Rankins and Tull at DL
Using Hakikha at DE as a pass rusher , his
Strength
So that's 10 reasons why better
And didn't lose anyone important

Not sure why anyone in here thinks Laurengitis is going to help this team. If his sole reason to come here was to be QB on defense we have even deeper issues than you can imagine. Can't wait to see all the threads on here comparing him to a Scott Shanle. Would be a superstar if he wasn't slow. Always recognizes the play can never get there in time to do anything. Watch how many people in ST call him out this year. He's a horrible LB that's past his prime now.

We don't need 10 players on defense with 1 who's invisible but capable of lining everyone up. We need 11 players that are capable of doing their job. He's going to be your Brandon Browner on this defense. Offenses will specifically pick him out and isolate him because he will be the weakest link on the defense.

The defense should have improved numbers, assuming decent luck with injuries.

As has been said before, this defense doesn't have to be "great" overall statistically. It needs to force timely turnovers and make timely stops.

Not sure where they will end up in the rankings, but I'm confident that they will not give up nearly as many big plays and yards from penalties. Hopefully there will be fewer plays will happen with players being out of position and the Middle coverage will be better. All this won't stop the talking shitheads like ESPN's Bill Barnwell from shittng on the defense but who cares.

Lack of depth?

I'd say pretty much every position on D has at least adequate depth.

Most of it is just young or has a few question marks

The latter can be said for most teams

DA actually had them resembling a competent defense the last half of the season but in fairness the jury is out.
