I wish people would stop with this line of thinking. He had a shorter field goal blocked, and he's missed some from 50+. He's also made some from 50+. The kid is good, and I'm glad we're sticking with him.

I lol'd watching the replay and as the kick is in the air you see his arms go straight up in the background. He hit that pure.

I really hope Lutz continues to improve and stay on an even keel because to have an accurate kicker with a strong leg is huge. Morten Andersen was kind of wasted in his career with the Saints. I could imagine what a kicker like Andersen paired with a Drew Brees offense might accomplish.

Was at the game. Did the commentators on TV show what happened on his miss? That was beyond ugly. Did he hit the turf first before making contact? I think with time he will develop consistency.

Yea, that was very ugly...considering he has the leg to hit a 65 yarder. Like you said, just give him some time. He's very young. It's nice to be in field goal range when you are on the 40-45 yard line though.
