Put it on the north shore around Covington or or on the Mississippi Gulf Coast near Gulfport or Biloxi. It will be way less clustered up as long as they build adequate parking and roads leading to the stadium and out of it.

yeah i can definitely see the saints hosting many more superbowls with the wonderful food and nightlife scenes in biloxi and covington.

Demolish the dome, make it a modern day stadium.
How, specifically, is the Dome not a modern-day stadium?! Why do people keep saying this, especially since an almost half billion in post Katrina remodel/updates. While it's no Jerry World, I've been to Houston's NRG and didn't notice any significant advantages. Don't confuse a crappy parking situation with a bad stadium.
The Dome is basically 5 years old:
quote:
the multiphase, multi-year, $376 million renovation the Superdome underwent from 2006 to 2011 in the wake of Hurricane Katrina. With the exception of the building's steel skeleton, nearly every aspect of the stadium was repaired and/or replaced during the makeover.
quote:
The roof, team store, press box, locker room, luxury suites and club lounges were all upgraded, replaced or expanded.
quote:
Other improvements included upgrading the sound system, lighting, suites, concourses and visitor dressing room.
quote:
Since then, the stadium has seen continued improvements with the expansion of some concourses, the addition of seats and the installation of an exterior lighting system. The addition of Champions Square was also a significant upgrade.
quote:
The Superdome’s most recent renovation was completed before the 2016 season. The highlight of that round of upgrades was a pair of 300-by-35-foot video boards that hang behind each end zone. They were among $39.5 million in improvements,
If they pursue the next planned upgrade, that'll be about 1 billion into the Dome since 2006, about what a new stadium would cost. It's nuts to talk about a new stadium, and completely unnecessary.

Can we put this topic to rest?

Are we going to host any more Super Bowls anyway? I don't know why they come here to begin with. Colin Cowherd was right.
We have a second-class airport, terrible road infrastructure, lack of adequate parking, high crime rates, and apparently we can't even figure out how to keep the lights on, as evidenced by the power outage when the Ravens and 49ers played here.

whats funny is that everyone was talking how awesome the superbowl was in new orleans.. except for the light thing. I know I went spent a day and it looked like everyone was enjoying the festivities.

choice number 1 is its most practical to stay where it is, maybe expand outward some to enlarge capacity and parking.
super great on the wish list is if they would put it in hammond, the land is cheap and there are still lots of open undeveloped areas to choose a spot right off the interstate plus its mid way from NO and BR but far enough away to get out of the stupid traffic and high crime areas of both of those cities

Also, anyone who thinks we need an open-air stadium in one of the hottest and wettest cities in America is an imbecile.
These were the game-time weather last year in New Orleans for home games:
9/11: 88 F cloudy 73% humidity
9/25 82 F overcast 66% humidity (night game)
10/16 84 F overcast 65% humidity
10/30 84 F sunny 47% humidity
11/13 66 F sunny 55% humidity
11/27 64 F sunny 64% humidity
12/4 68 F overcast 98% humidity
12/24 77 F sunny 82% humidity
Overall, not terrible. Not one game did it rain outside last year. September, October, and beginning of November tend to be drier months for South Louisiana. As far as location, like another poster said, the area adjacent to where Mardi Gras World is perfect.

You are either stupid or a horrible troll that has brain damage.

From a person who has sat through monsoons on more than one occasion, and regularly had sweat dripping off of every part of my body.......
Works?
A necessary evil if you want to go to the games...tradition of the old stadium. yes, but it's not fun.

clear out some land in st. tammany.
hotels, food joints, brick streets, move the saints hall of fame, plenty of paid places to tailgate, etc. make sure nothing is free.
plenty of rv parking and security.
no bus routes either.

That's the biggest appeal of New Orleans hosting Superbowls is nearly everything the city has to offer visitors is walking distance from the dome. Not many if any other cities can offer the same convenience. Interested to see where the Vegas stadium will be located
Posted on 8/31/17 at 7:41 am to mindbreaker
Even if they could temporarily move to an alternate location for a few years while a new stadium is built in the current location. It would be better than moving the stadium permanently.
Posted on 8/31/17 at 11:57 am to MorbidTheClown
And lose the nostalgia of the dome? No thanks. The dome is a staple not only of the Saints, but of the city. Put the money into it like someone said and let the good times roll baybaayy!

oh , i agree. i love the dome. I was thinking the OP was about a "new" stadium.
Posted on 8/31/17 at 2:24 pm to mindbreaker
It's going to be on Las Vegas Blvd south of the airport. It will be a couple miles from the strip, but there are rumors they will be extending the monorail that runs along the strip down to the airport and stadium by giving a percentage stake in the monorail to the taxi companies.
