He'll surpass Manning statistically within 2 seasons if he avoids career-ending injury, doesn't retire early, and maintains his high level of play. Incredibly tough to surpass Brady considering he has 5 SB rings and all relevant playoff passing records, among other things.

relevant playoff passing records......like the Pats being 9-4 when Brady's QB rating is less than 78......#carried

Look at his playoff games over time, dude has plenty of very bad games in the playoffs, which the Pats often still win.

quote:

No way he surpasses peyton or brady

Brees EASILY surpasses Peyton with another superbowl. It's arguable that Brees is better without another ring anyways. Peyton is awful in the playoffs

Peyton was #carried to both of his superbowl titles. Look at his performances in the playoffs those years. He was terrible

No, Brady has more rings, Peyton has funnier commercials, and Brees plays in a small market.

"Clutch" is one of those bull shite arguments that people assert when they don't have anything logical or rational on which to base their argument. They just rely on assertions that can be neither proven or disproven. It's some intangible trait that can't be measured or argued against.

And yes, GOAT discussions are inherently stupid.

I actually agree that arguing the absolute GOAT is stupid and a waste of time. However, it is pretty criminal how Brees is shite on year in year out by sports media. They talk about him like he's just a stat padder who selfishly throws the ball 650 times a year. Little do they know he has to do that to keep up with the 40 burger being put up on the opposite side of the scoreboard. He's one of the few elite athletes in history to have his GOAT level stats spun in such a negative fashion.

I like this thread that was posted on the MSB a while back. It shows pretty well that the teams that Brady has been on have consistently been much better than any of his contemporary "elite" qb's. That some people want to act that his having more championships is all on him being the best of his contemporaries and is not at all a team accomplishment is mind bending. My conclusion is that a person too stupid to see the absurdity of that position is probably too stupid to ever be swayed with even the soundest of arguments.

Good stuff. Brady is incredible and may very well be the "GOAT." But you can't compare elite QB's once you get to a certain level, it's impossible. The only people who say one is better than the other are stupid or trying to create a storyline. Their arguments never get further than "he just isn't on the same level" or "5 rings, playoffs, etc." Any relevant individual statistics are never mentioned somehow.

-most postseason 300 yard passing games
-most Super Bowl wins
-most Super Bowl TD passes
-most Super Bowl passing yards
-most Super Bowl completions
-completed 67% of passes in the Super Bowl, 63% in postseason total

Right. I agree. The best that you can say, imo, is that of their generation Brady, Brees, Peyton Manning, and Rodgers were the elite and the best of the best. Trying to distinguish between them is nothing but splitting hairs.

Brees and Brady are both still very active and anything can happen before they are done.

Let us extend Drew Brees playoff stats over the number of playoff games Brady has played in the playoffs. Brees would be in the playoffs every year if he had a top 10 defense every year. Just sayin. Not a fair comparison. Just like it's not fair to say Brees' playoff numbers are significantly better than Brady's on a much smaller sample size. Bc per game Brees is the superior QB in the playoffs.

Saints aren't winning another SB so this discussion is a waste of time.

The truth is...

If Aaron Rodgers had the same stats that Drew Brees had last year, he would've been an MVP candidate. Same for Brady.

Drew Brees is criminally underrated and should be acknowledged as one of the GOAT QB's whether he ever sniffs another ring or not

A-Rod led the league in TD passes last season, achieved a 40-7 TD/INT ratio and 104.2 passer rating

yeah Brees did not have better numbers than Arod last year

I guess you can say he threw for a bunch of yards but we all know where that gets him in the eyes of the media
