How do you try out for the Saints? I could do better out there. Let's break it down.

Age: Browner is 31. I'm older but I've never played organized football so there's less mileage on my body. Push.

Speed: Browner can't cover an NFL receiver. I can't cover an NFL receiver. Push.

Tackling: I can't tackle a professional football player. Browner can't tackle a professional football player. Push.

Salary: Browner will get paid $5 million if he's on the roster next year. I would get paid the league minimum. Advantage: me.

Decisionmaking: Browner commits bonehead penalties. I would probably hold or interfere due to my physical limitations, but at least I would avoid unsportsmanlike conduct penalties and late hits. Advantage me.

Make the call, CSP. Make the call.

Makes more sense financially to cut him after 2016. If we cut him in 6 months then realize we are using 4+ Mil of the cap for a player not even on the team. It's locked and can't be appropriated.

His skills will only diminish more. He's a wasted roster spot if he's on the team next year.

Anyone remember Browner saying he'd like to return to Seattle at some point? I would like that as well

You're the second person on this thread to allude to the dead money as a reason to keep him next season, NEWSFLASH the money is already DEAD since we are getting ZERO in return for it! Cut him and anything we save is NOT DEAD! He is wasting a roster spot and can only be a bad influence on others around him at this point, plus his distractions with reporters (warranted or not) and didn't he get into a sideline spat with Rob Ryan earlier this year and now Dennis Allen too, dude has got to go!

There are plenty of free agents who you can sign for couple hundred thousand that will play better than him.

if we dont cut him, then we are absorbing a roster spot with no gain.

At the very least, the scout/coach that made the decision to bring him in for the guy to sign him.

So you rather have him on the books for $5M and let him be a liability on the field while taking one of the 53 spots on the roster? Better have a shitty cap situation next year and hope for continued improvement through the draft w/ a couple of bargain FA signings and start 2017 off fresh (from a cap perspective).

Depends if you think he should be on the team

It is a sunk cost financially, and the decision should be made with that mindset, like most financial decisions
