I mean why not AP probably will only play 2 more years and Ingram is Ingram, need a homerun hitter.

Because we need defense more than a 3rd running back.

It's also not an overly valuable position cap wise, so you're not saving any future money there with a pick.

Also, you can get high value 3rd down backs in the mid rounds

So you're looking at spending a 2nd round pick on a guy who will share the workload with 2 other veteran and established backs. How many carries do you think he'll get over the next 2 years?

Hell, you can get good value not only in the mid rounds, but also as udfa

We need rbs too, Ingram gets injured and what if both AP and Ingram are injured at same time then all we have is cadet id hate to be Brees in the pocket with cadet as our main running threat. Chances of Ingram and AP being injured at same time are highly possible because of their running styles.

So use a 2nd round pick on the 3rd option

Did you miss the rest of my post? The one where I talked about getting depth for much cheaper?

What are the chances of a DE getting injured?

Linebacker?

Safety or Corner?

So in 2 years we wont need a rb either, he's versatile and is homerun threat and will be better than McCaffrey

You just stated how often RBs get injured and how important depth is at the position....

You regularly see top RB talent found throughout the draft and even FA.

He's not even the best RB available either

and Lasco, Murphy, and whoever we might find as an UDFA.

I'm all about BPA within reason, but let's keep it reasonable. Ingram is a 1000 yd back who thrives getting 20 carries a game. Peterson has been brought in, at this point, as the "closer"- alternates with Ingram early, probably used more late in games, and may become the primary back in the playoffs if we make it, still fresh due to the platooning during the year.

There's no space for Cook, for either PT or what looks to be the overall plan. Not as a high 2nd, at least.

Not to mention, just off the top of my head:

PT
Ivory
Robinson
Bell

All valuable RBs found by just the Saints. You see it throughout the NFL

That's how you build depth at the RB position. We've spent enough there at this point. There is only 1 football and it is a short shelf life position

And we can sure as shite get a 3rd down back in the 3rd if we feel that Lasco can't handle that role

This draft is loaded with talent at RB. You can find someone with equal or more production in the 5th round and later.

That's why we DON'T need a running back in the next three or four years. Don't be an Ingram hater.

Think of just the RBs out of LSU that have had success despite being buried here. Plug and play to a certain extent.

Exactly, we will be passing every down with no running threat.

Not a hater Ingram is a 1st and second down back just like AP. We need a pass catching homerun threat that can also take a handoff and be a threat so you don't know what's coming on 3rd down.

Top 10 Rushers last year:

1st round - 1 (only one picked before 42)

2nd - 2 (48th and 53rd picks)

3rd - 2

4th - 2

5th - 2

UDFA - 1

You don't take a 3rd down back in the 2nd freaking round, especially at pick #42.

That's awful...VALUE. you can get a 3rd down back in the 3rd if you really want to reach, or late

Name who you think the best 3rd down backs are in the Nfl
