i made nearly 52 million in cap space for 2018 cutting 7 people

isn't including any carry over, increased cap numbers, any restructures that can be done now or next year. Yes we need to extend Vaccaro.

If he hits FA it accelerates to 2018. If we extend him the $6 mil for 2019 and 2020 stays in those years.
That's why it's vital to extend him before FA.
Brees contract
Either they mistakenly put 2019 instead of 2018, or he has some weird clause that skirts the rules and takes $6 mil off of 2018's cap. The former is more likely.

You would think a multi million dollar organization would just hire some kid(s) to manipulate a speadsheet all day or write some program to find ways to get the most out of the most cuts and propose these daily for management.

Most likely not. They will probably back-load the contract again. Better to push his cap hit into years when we will (likely) be playing a cheap rookie contract QB anyway.

Yes. Once the contract voids it accelerates at that point. Signing him after doesn't affect the previous contract.

You "made" $14 mil. The rest was already there. Thus why the title is misleading.
I was expecting crazy cuts like Armstead and Jordan to get $52 mil.
