Tyrunn Walker is a free agent. I thought that was a big mistake...

It is said that Hicks was not good in the locker room and he performed poorly on the field.
He was on the worst Defense in the NFL. It's difficult to be happy being on such a poor Defense.
The Saints got rid of the their DC. If there was a chance that you would let the DC go, then you keep a player like Hicks.
There are too many defensive players that left the Saints and did well elsewhere. The Saints need an excellent DC. Someone who knows how to utilize their players.
Hicks could have had a better attitude, but look at what defense he was on. Who wouldn't have been frustrated?

pretty much he played well when things were going good (2013).

but not so much in the other years when things weren't going as well.

Patriots probably noticed him during the joint practices.

When a player gets traded from a mediocre team to a Super Bowl contender, I'd imagine his attitude changes.

but I'm glad he's gone. Had he stayed on and made a few plays here and there we would have probably given him some bullshite contract.

He wasn't doing anything here......

He was also trouble in the locker room.

Many of the moves were due to "attitude".

i don't disagree, but now we just have bad attitude and the same losing record to perpetuate it. oh, how i long for nearly a decade ago (hard to believe) when i was forlorn over getting pushed in by the bears.

Hoomanawanui is a UFA as well

It's not like either team was going to benefit past this season. This is an insignificant move either way

That's wrong. Hooman's next contract, which I'm fairly certain will be with the Saints, will probably be for $1-$2M/yr. Hicks next contract will probably be about $4M/yr

When we've already decided that we are not going to give an inconsistent player an extension, let alone over pay for him, getting anything in trade value is a good move.

Now you can argue and blame several reasons for him being inconsistent here (coaching, skill, motivation, position) but one thing I can't be mad at is Payton/Loomis wanting to get rid of any bad eggs in the locker room. Perhaps they see a little of Jr. Galette in him and wanted to get rid of him now.

Also with Hicks in a new team & scheme other offenses did not have much to study on how exactly NE would use him, so now that they do we'll have to see how his production is next year, and then also factor that benefit/value with whatever he will be getting paid also. I realize the same argument could be made about Hooman, but my opinion is a solid blocking TE with decent hands will be more consistent, especially in our offense.
