I'm thinking this will easily be the highest number of opposing fans in the Super Dome that we've seen in the Payton / Brees era. I'd guess between 12,500 and 15,000 Cowboys fans. Maybe even a tick higher?

Did anybody here sell their tickets online?

I always heard that the Steelers traveled well, but that turnout still surprised me. I am just glad we won that game, or it would have been ugly walking out of the Dome. If only Strief would have caught that TD pass...

It isn't travel. They have a national fan base for a number of reasons. There's a large diaspora and they were one of the dominant teams in the 1970s when football enjoyed some of its biggest growth in popularity.

They've also cultivated a large fan base in Louisiana from fans who follow local products more than a specific team. Terry Bradshaw, Louis Lipps, Kordell Stewart, Alan Faneca, Ryan Clark, Ike Taylor, Mewelde Moore, Keenan Lewis, Mike Wallace.

When the Steelers take over an opponent's stadium, the overwhelming majority of the fans didn't have to rent a hotel room.

price breaks are key - you can sell the "value seats" (end zone and corner terrace and plaza endzone) for way over face value still. It's the people that have sideline club, sideline plaza, and first 10 rows of sideline terrace that are lucky to get back face value.

sideline plaza seats aren't worth 8 times more than endzone plaza seats, despite what the Saints set the face value at.

Saints are going to deplete their season ticket wait list in one offseason if they don't fix their pricing tiers - casual fans cant afford / wont renew $250 - $400 seats for a 3-13 team with an uncertain future - and there are a LOT of $250 to $400 seats in the Superdome. Will be interesting to see how it plays out.

But IMO the "season ticket wait list" isn't worth the paper it's printed on if the only seats coming open are $300 ones
