I'm sure everyone is extremely excited to see how well he has been playing in the pre -season , I know I am . What does this mean for Ingram and Peterson ? I know it's a bit early , and you need RB depth but could this guy be the best back in our stable as a rookie ?

To me he was the second best rb in the draft. I posted that on the sec rant the day we drafted him before we picked him. I couldn't believe he was there in the third round

His ceiling is Barry Sanders and his floor is Walter Payton, conservatively speaking.

Mike Maccagnan ignored the steady drumbeat of a dynamic college player, who was there for the taking if only he went off script.

Nearly four months after dual-threat running back Alvin Kamara landed in New Orleans, a faction of people on One Jets Drive that wanted the former Tennessee star are still miffed by their general manager’s relatively passive approach, according to team insiders.

The bottom line: There were important people in the organization, who wanted to make an aggressive play to draft the big-play back, but the final decision maker opted to take the safer, more deliberate route, sources said. The fortune-favors-the-bold crowd took a back seat to the draft-pick hoarder.

A team with no play-makers passed up on an opportunity to position themselves to draft a potential game-breaker, prompting folks in the building to shake their heads in disappointment and wonder aloud: What the heck are we doing?

I heard rumblings of some Jet people’s infatuation with Kamara earlier this offseason. Those whispers grew louder throughout the spring. Now, Kamara is making the Jets — and everyone else — look silly with a white-hot preseason sure to make Jets diehards throw their arms in the air for unofficially the 1,969th time.

DO you have a link to this article? Jets tears are quite tasty with all of their undeserved media coverage.

If I had to say who Kamara is, in our offense he is Pierre Thomas with top end speed. That's a potential Pro Bowl player in my opinion. If PT would have had the speed and athleticism of AK, we probably would have won a second Super Bowl because there's no way he tries to run through Donte Whitner, he would have made him miss and scored.

I can't link it, but it's a PFT article, I believe.

I don't get the scat back comparisons. He runs like Arian Foster. Regardless, I'm glad he's on our team.

Here's the Jets wanting him story...

LINK

I've been saying since picking him that he has size and toughness to carry a load like Devonta Freeman. Use the stable, Peterson retires in a year or two after a ring, let Ingram walk in 2019, then Kamara becomes the featured back.

over 11 million tied up between ingram and peterson. its doable to keep them both but if Kamara proves to be legit, ingram saves more cap money with 4.6 saved. Not sure if a team would give us a mid low pick for a 1 yr ingram rental.

Pretty good comparison. Charles is 5'11 200 and Kamara 5'10 215. I have a feeling Kamara will end up being really really good.

2018:
Ingram saves 4.6mil
Peterson saves 3.5mil

Jets, Patriots, Ravens, Colts, Broncos, Raiders (assuming Lynch is not going to be that great), Eagles, Giants, Packers, Lions, and Seahawks all enter this year easily with worse options.

There will be a market for runningbacks and fortunately, the list will be mixed bag:

Le'Veon Bell - who knows at this point if he stays in Pittsburgh. If he doesn't than add that team to the list.

Isaiah Crowell/Carlos Hyde - continues to improve, more than likely stays with their respective teams

Charles Sims, Chris Thompson, Thomas Rawls, Rex Burkhead, Dion Lewis, and james White - limited player, probably best as a backup or RBBC

Jeremy Hill - great rookie year, 2 down years after. About to get bounced for Dixon. Cannot catch or block

Shane Vereen - injury history, primary scatback

Ryan Mathews - injury history, concerning at this point

Eddie Lacy - injury history, effort is questionable, weight is huge problem

Sproles/Gore - getting really old

Not a single name better outside of Bell.

He's PT, Bush, and Sprolles in one.

Amazing hands. And actually had to tote the rock between the tackles in college. And he did so well.

i was referring to 2018 when speaking earlier. i didn't really clarify that. Its a no brainer we're carrying them this year.

I don't know what you remember about Pierre Thomas, but he was so much more than a scat back. He would get tough yards. If we needed 3, he would break a tackle and get 4. He rarely went down on first contact.

Pierre played at 5'11" 215, AK is 5'10" 214. Pretty similar size wise. AK runs hard like PT did. He has shown the ability to break the initial contact. I think that AK has a chance to be better because he has better acceleration and top end speed.

Skip to 0:35. PT was a badass and was more than just a scat back. LINK

I was just putting up both, their numbers are close enough you can argue either one if you project Kamara as the 2019 starter

How come nobody gives Ingram that kind of talk, he's been top 5 in yards after initial contact the last few years iirc.
