How do we feel about Marcus Williams after first quarter of season?

So we aren’t hearing his name called too much which can be good and bad. My question is how does everybody feel he has played so far this year. I know the first few weeks the defense hasn’t been what it was last year but I do think it’s improving and will be better than it was last year. But are you guys worried that he won’t play at the level he was last year?

Looks like he's trying to do to much. I see him settling down in the next few games and seeing some great play by him.

Yeah other than probably that top 4 play of the year by this team where he totally earned that sweet interception to put the browns game out of reach.

Yeah other than that, I haven't heard his name much I guess....

I’d say average right now.

Atrocious the first and third game. We don't win the 2nd game without him and pretty solid against the Giants. Although they didn't really test us too deep.

It's hard to just pinpoint him specifically as a problem when the entire secondary has been so inconsistent.

I came into this season thinking our defense would be better but I really doubt they can play at the level they did last year. There are just too many damn good offenses on our schedule. Now to Williams I think he has done better the last few weeks but also think there was a huge issue of communication in the secondary and it looked like williams was out of position a lot the first few games. He and the secondary looked much better against the Giants but that also has to do with the Giants Oline being pretty bad. I have definitely seen some regression in his play but I think as long as he and the rest of the secondary can be on the same page he will be just fine going forward. He is still very talented and smart just needs to maintain coverage responsibilities.

After what I’ve seen, I wouldn’t make the argument that he’s smart. The film says otherwise.

Without seeing the game tape from the different angles, it is difficult to tell how well or poorly he is playing. There have been a few plays that I recall seeing him taking a bad angle. The one that jumps to mind is the PI on Crawley against Atl. Crawley had to make the PI because Williams took such a bad angle that he ended up running under Ridley before the ball got there when he was suppose to be playing over top.

But as others have pointed out, he has made some good plays with the Int being the highlight.

Our passing defense has been pretty above NFL average if you remove like 8 plays.

your ability to analyze his play without bringing your emotion into it is very similar to a teenage girl that got her heart broken.

He hasn’t missed any season defining tackles yet, so that’s good.

I believe it, but how? Obviously something has changed from last year when he always seemed to be close to the ball. So far, with the exception of a few plays, he seems to be nowhere near the play. Has our scheming changed that much from last year? Seems like he did better when he was a rookie going out and playing intuitively. Are we not letting him just go out and be a true center fielder?
