Wonder if they also dropped his roster bonus. That was the big issue. Iirc it was $2.5m. Have to imagine that's gone.

It makes sense to keep at least one proven vet at the spot though I hoped that would be a FA. He outplayed Lofton last year (despite Lofton's consistently high tackle number, making most of them after 5-10 yard gains doesn't help; we should have listened to Atlanta fans on this one ).

I still want him gone once we find a replacement though.

If they dropped the bonus I'm fine with it, even if he's just someone to have as depth.

For that price it's actually a good job to keep him around.....The pay cut will allow us to keep him for depth/leadership and be able to possibly target another FA ILB, and just because he is staying does not have any bearing on us targeting a ILB in the draft because Hawthorne is not an all pro or anything and he will not be here forever.
