Moving PT wouldn't make any sense. He doesn't cost much and he's probably the best screen back in the league, and we run a lot of screens.

Thomas is the most dependable RB they have. Dumb if true. Can they unload Ingram on somebody?

Lost all credibility right there

So they draft Ingram b/c we had no depth at RB to end the 2010 season, now we're going to unload Pierre and Ivory leaving only Ingram and Sproles?

Stupid tweet is stupid

If anyone is moved, it's Ivory. If they move Pierre, I'll start to lose faith in the FO. That would be an incredibly stupid move. Most reliable back on the team and he does everything well.

Yeah draft Lacy and trade Brees for Richardson.

I would be unhappy if we moved PT.

+1 Million All Day Every Day!!!!! Ingram is the 4th best RB but gets the most touches/game over the last 2 years.

Why would the Saint trade Thomas - THEIR BEST RUNNING BACK - especially since he's not really making that much money compared relative to what he can actually do when the Saints give him the ball!!

PT is every bit as good as any RB in Saints history. He runs with power, speed, and elusiveness and shows all three when he catches a screen pass.

Ivory's cap hit is around 2mil right now because of the 2nd round tender. If he is traded, that is cap space.

Their words not mine haha. I completely agree that it is stupid as well. I was just taken aback hearing this only 10 days away from the draft credible or not. In the past it had been discussed (foolish or not) for some time before at least. Considering Ingram is about as useful in the passing game as the Falcons in the playoffs I couldn't see why they would get rid of him, over Ivory, especially both.

I wouldn't look too much into it. I know we've "tried" to trade Thomas to New England at least 3x now.

got to get rid of all these other backs so Ingram can finally get in that 20-25 carry groove where he gets more than 2 yards per carry and doesn't get tripped up by a strong wind

trade drew for a non-throwing qb so he can really get in that 30-35 carry groove.

I honestly believe the entire RB corps is available heading into the draft. Carrying all those RBs last year was ridiculous, and I can think of a number of scenarios in which guys get moved.

-Ivory as part of a deal that gets us a mid-round pick (or more)

-What if T. Austin is still there at 15? Could we not utilize a combination of him and Cadet to handle Sproles' offensive and special teams roles? Austin, of course, would impact the team in other areas, but he could help to replace Sproles among other things.

-Thomas is a sure handed runner who excels in the screen and short passing game. Also could get us a mid-rounder or more as part of a package deal (including picks). He's at a nice price as well, I'd imagine, from a cap standpoint.

-Even Ingram could make sense if a team sees him as a guy needing carries in order to be effective (Rams might want a younger "volume" RB to replace S Jax, for example.) Wouldn't expect much more than a 3-4th rounder for him, though.

EDIT-Last but not least, common sense tells me that a team that ranked 25th in rushing offense last year would consider a change at the RB position.

That coupled with the fact that our defense was historically bad which put us behind at times and forced us to abandon the run. Any defensive improvement will contribute to a better run game.
