so get ready for a full month of being told during every game about how racist you are against the poor black man

quote:

According to Charles Robinson of Yahoo Sports, a group of four current and former players sent the league a memo in August asking for the NFL’s help campaigning for racial equality and criminal justice reform. The letter was signed by Seahawks defensive end Michael Bennett, Eagles safety Malcolm Jenkins, retired wide receiver Anquan Boldin and Eagles wideout Torrey Smith.

The 10-page letter to Goodell and executive vice president of football operations Troy Vincent also asked the league to endorse efforts to promote an activism awareness month.

Neither the league, nor the players who signed the memo commented, citing an agreement to keep direct communications with Goodell private.

The memo requested the league to invest time and education, political involvement, finances and other commitments from the league. They also asked the league to endorse November as the time to celebrate their cause.

The league is all too happy to promote safer topics (as in, who can possibly be against cancer or the military?) , and will also be delighted to sell you some merchandise to show how much they care.

“To be clear, we are asking for your support,” part of the memo (which can be read in full here) reads. “We appreciate your acknowledgement on the call regarding the clear distinction between support and permission. For us, support means: bear all or part of the weight of; hold up; give assistance to, especially financially; enable to function or act. We need support, collaboration and partnerships to achieve our goal of strengthening the community. There are a variety of ways for you to get involved. Similar to the model we have in place for players to get involved, there are three tiers of engagement based on your comfort level. To start, we appreciate your agreement on making this an immediate priority. In your words, from Protest to Progress, we need action.”

Are you trying to alienate yourself? A bunch of guys on this site already don't like you, & now you've added most black people to that list.

What millionaire black athletes should be saying to other black folks is that the bar to escaping poverty is not that high and that white folks have nothing to do with it.

*Graduate from high school
*Don't have out of wedlock chillens
*Get a job

There's already a Salute to Service game (I agree with this salute) that the NFL does, which they merchandise. I doubt that the league will endorse their conflicting message. If they want to protest the month of November, then they should just not show up, get fined for 4 weeks and designate whatever misguided charity that they choose to get their money. But they won't do that.

There are 2 more issues, the 1st one is new cba. Will the players strike? NFL channel was talking about how some low wage players lose their whole pay check playing in different states because of a entertainment tax. Second reason is protesting the flag the NFL is losing 15% of ad revenue.

I always love the idea of a players strike.

Most NFL players made/make all their money from being a NFL player. The smart ones(few) lock up endorsements, open businesses that are likely to succeed, live below their means and understand money.

Every NFL owner already has their own revenue stream aside from the NFL. They love the NFL but don't need the NFL. The players will always come back to the table on their knees if the owners truly forced them to.

I hope there IS a strike or lockout. A long one too. 2 years minimum. It will be super interesting to see the long term effects.

- Too many commercials

- Too many absurd rules

- No one knows what determines a catch anymore

- Holding happens every play, but the officials pick the worst times to call it often determining the outcome of games as a result

- Open support and praise for Democratic politicians and open hate and criticism for Republican politicans by the announcers/commentators

- Misguided and ignorant SJW lectures

Yea. Pretty soon there will be no reason to watch the NFL product anymore.
