so a decision is likely made next week regarding the tag. Perhaps Jimmy's camp doesnt like how thats looking and wants to get a deal done. sounds like we could actually see some progress this week.

It's sort of pressuring both sides to strike a deal.

not sure how you got this out of that. it could also mean Saints don't like where it's going and called the agent in for talks. Could also mean neither like it and both want to get it done.

just a guess. seems a lot of articles have come out lately with more stats and info to argue even more reasons why Jimmy shouldn't be a WR. All I've seen in defense of Jimmy is that line up percentage stat.

I know she posted this, but the hearing is also in New Orleans. He is definitely in town for that. I'm thinking she jumped the gun on the negotiations part.

I don't think Sexton is active in these hearings. From what I understand the NFLPA is handling the case for Graham.

Valid point.

Then again, Tripp posted this shortly after:

quote:

Mike Triplett ?@MikeTriplett The Jimmy Graham grievance hearing is actually taking place in New Orleans area, so it's likely that's why agent Jimmy Sexton is in town.

Either way, this hearing will fire up negotiations.

Right, and it should. Even if Graham wins the hearing, it may actually set back talks. This moment before the tag ruling is probably the closet either side will get to both being somewhat satisfied.

They have till July 17th to make a deal or claim a franchise tag. Graham won't sit out a season but its going to take a week for this decision to be over with. Which he wont win.

well, i think the idea is to meet in the middle before that decision comes. im just confused on how much more the saints can really budge. didnt they offer 10mil/year? idk how we can go more than that.

They probably have some restructures on deck and stuff. I honestly don't know, but I'm sure Loomis has a plan.

i guess it was aimed as a cap question. i was more thinking of "how can you pay a TE that."

I think this is a given and this point they're figuring out the guaranteed money and number of years.

ETA: My prediction: 5 years/ $57M, $32M guaranteed.
