Goodell stands by penalties again (ie 2nd Round Pick), gives his "reasoning"

At his annual “State of the League” press conference on Friday in New Orleans, Goodell said that he stands by the decision to take the Saints’ second-round pick — and stands by all of the other decisions he made — for the simple reason that he still believes the Saints ran a bounty program for three years, in violation of NFL rules.

“The reason we’re not returning any of the draft choices or reversing any of the discipline is because it occurred,” Goodell said.

But if that’s the case, why did Goodell say 10 months ago that he would consider a change to the discipline to let the Saints keep their second-round pick? According to Jeff Duncan of the Times-Picayune, Goodell clarified after the press conference that the only modification he was considering was to allow the Saints to keep their second-round pick if it turned out to be more valuable than expected.

So if the pick was better, in other words if we had a top 3 pick, he would have given it back?

Man, frick this guy.

Worst coverup explanation ever. He never hand any intent to give the pick back. He just said he would consider it to try and look a little less like the frick head he is.

the pick was more valuable than we expected, thanks to you torpedoing our season and the worst defense in NFL history helping out a little bit.

Go frick yourself, Goodell. I hope you got egged after your PC.

Well, that's unsatisfying.

I almost wish he'd said nothing.

he shouldn't have opened his big mouth if he didn't mean it

I'll petition for Brian Downing's early release, on the condition that he meets up with Rog at Krystal Burger.

What was the reasoning for taking the second round pick and not the first round?

I wonder if he also thinks that he is untouchable.

"the most hated man in New Orleans will arrive in town. As the NFL's commissioner, Roger Goodell serves as unofficial host for the league's championship week. He will attend meetings and banquets. A giant party will be thrown in his honor. A small fleet of cars will whisk him around the city."

should crash his party.
