Have a first and don't we have a chance to receive our 2nd round this year back? I remember Goodell saying it was conditional

I thought that was a solid contribution. Harper is one of the better players on the D, one of the best performers for our D this year, absolutely and noticeably thriving in Spags' system, a better than average strong safety, one of the best DB blitzers in the NFL, a tackling machine, etc... And safety is the last position on defense we need to worry about right now. Especially with a first or second round pick.

You should probably just shut up.

We need difference makers on D. And I never said we'd take him with a 1st rounder. And by one of the better players on our D you mean top 6 at best?

Never Forget!!!!!!!!!!

also, wouldn't just getting rid of Harper hurt us?

any salary cap gurus want to weigh in?

and lol at Rambo, he just got beat by a freshman WR on a deep pass. But seriously, he wouldn't be a bad pick. If we could grab him in the 3rd round, I'd be happy.

We need a LBer. We have a few difference makers. Next season Cam Jordan and White should be great. Cam Jordan is great right now. Hicks can hopefully step it up as well and get some more snaps. bunkly is playing well. Jenkins is my favorite player on the defense. If we can get pressure, the secondary will be fine. So we need start with a pass rush DE or OLB, that i can agree with.

No i mean top 3 this season and top 5 consistently and if you disagree with me you either don't watch Saints football, dont understand how football works (especially how SS's fit in the scheme of a defense), or have never seen a stat sheet.

JOOC, who do you think are the 6 guys better than him?

Wow

Gimme Jordan, Casillas, Jenkins, Greer, Lofton, and lately Hicks over Harper.

And I completely understand the SS's role in a defensive scheme. Problem is too many people excuse a SS's role in run support as a crutch for sucking in coverage.

In my honest opinion, we need help at OLB like yesterday. Someone who can actually cover and go sideline to sideline.
We also really need secondary help. I'd like to nab both a S and a CB in this draft

I don't know why so many Saints fans bash Harper. When GW was here he was always praising the toughness and play of RH.

He's not afraid to tackle, great in the blitz, and he doesn't take shite from opposing players when they get a little too celebratory.

Harper left a bracket coverage on the Gonzales td for no freaking reason.

The only problem I see with Harper is that he might not be a good fit for our system.

There's no real SS or FS in Spags' system...they're just safeties.
And they both need to be competent in coverage.

Maybe Harper's too small, but moving him to OLB permanently might be the easiest solution.

Fwiw, Jenkins with his missed tackles ate much more alarming.

Agreed.

And I don't get it.
It seems like something he shouldn't STILL be having a problem with.
