It was more or less the guys I wanted to keep. Sean has made exceptions to his base format if he loved the player in the past although your right in that he does like his base roster format and tries to stick to it.

I think if Harris shows out...his versatility is a major selling point for him. He could be a dime safety, a NB cover LB, along with ST ace.

Gwachum could make it but we already have 2 other very similar DE's in Kikaha and Edebali...I dont see all 3 making it unless Richardson or Onyemata got the axe.

I have no idea what the final 53 will look like, but I know 1 thing! Almost every position will have competition to make the final roster, and that is a good thing!

Going back to a more four man front, you're likely to see 9 dline to 7 lbs instead of the reverse, but those rush olbs are now weakside ends so it's still the same players competing for the same roles.

Going with the obvious players you have:

Strongside end- Jordan, Richardson, Onyemata
3 tech- Fairley, Rankins
Nose- Jenkins, Davison
Weakside end- Kikaha, Edebali

That's the nine right there. If anyone else makes it they have to bump one of those off or be a damn good special teamer (where the smaller guys have the edge which is why Gwacham or Tull could stick).

Also, it's Gwacham, not Gwachum.

Also we could just run with 5 or 6 LBs instead which makes room for those smaller rush guys.

Safety and corner look weak this year so we could trim numbers there also. The norm is 5 and 5.

If you're looking for base numbers to do a 53:

3 QBs
4 HBs
1 FB
5 WRs
3 TEs
4 OTs
3 OGs
1 C

5 DEs
4 DTs
4 OLBs
3 MLBs
5 CBs
5 Ss

1 K
1 P
1 LS

Most of these can go up or down by one depending on where the special teamers are. Offense usually 24 or 25 whereas defense is usually 26 or 25. The specialists are set (minus injury circumstances or not trusting the kicker).

I guess they are assuming he's going to retire because of the concussions. If he gets one more he pretty much needs to.

Yeah it's never good when you get three so quick and then are put on ir because of it.

Damn shame because he was looking like a fifth round steal. Could have easily been a starting nickel.

No way we carry 5 RB's, but good list besides that.

Im really interested to see pj williams play next year.

We've carried 5 HBs before. Just depends on where the special teamers are.

Murphy is going to have to win the returner job to stay though. Same with Cadet.

And Lasco is no guarantee. I like him but he needs to prove he can do it.

Ingram and Spiller are locks (unless Spiller shits the bed) and Hightower is close to one. Any backs beyond that have to stand out on special teams. Cadet and Murphy as returners or Lasco in coverage (maybe returns too).

CB is still my major concern
Hopefully dline improvement will help corners out
Keenan Lewis has to stay healthy and year 2 improvement out of Breaux and contributions from PJ will be key

Does Strief make it? Maybe keep Peat at G if he can't beat Strief out, next biggest concern

John Jenkins better show up with weight down, if not I can see the Saints cutting him.

5 HBs isn't odd but 4 WRs is a no way. The minimum has and always will be 5.
