I am contacting my fantasy league manager and getting this season washed. He can’t be the only one doing this… I suspect I had a couple players who had bets every time I lost.

”There is nothing more fundamental to the NFL's success -- and to the reputation of everyone associated with our league -- than upholding the integrity of the game," NFL commissioner Roger Goodell wrote in a letter to Ridley notifying him of his suspension. "This is the responsibility of every player, coach, owner, game official, and anyone else employed in the league. Your actions put the integrity of the game at risk, threatened to damage public confidence in professional football, and potentially undermined the reputations of your fellow players throughout the NFL.”

Says the guy who rigs the games!

I get that this is the Falcons so F them.

But do people really care about this? I don’t care about players betting on games in their sport, or even on their own team to win.

I ONLY care if a player bets on his team to lose, because he could have thrown the game or shaved points etc.

I don’t care at all if Calvin Ridley bets on like a Browns Ravens game. Why in the world does anybody care about that?!

And like I said, I may be in the minority but I don’t even really care if he bets on his own team to win. I see how that toes the line a little close because he is privy to inside knowledge about injuries etc. but betting on your team to win imo will only make you try harder.

I think this rule should be changed to you just can’t bet on your own team to lose.

What if the money for the bet on your team to win came from the opposing team? There's too many ways to exploit gambling if you allow the organizations to place bets. For example, DB on team one isn't happy with his contracr, gives WR on team 2 100k to bet on himself going over 100 yards receiving. They split the winnings after DB one let's him go deep.

A Rams player is in bad financial situation. Ridley bets on Saints to beat Rams. Ridley is friends with Rams player who is in bad financial situation.

Just one scenario….

Who cares if he bets against his team? There is no integrity in the game anyway. They point shave. He could drop a pass in the end zone and nobody would bat an eye.

Where do you think it inevitably ends up?

A player loses a few “innocent” bets and ends up in a hole with the bookies. Then they start approaching him with propositions to get him out of said hole.

It’s a bad business all around.
