He might still be here if Jimmy Graham wasn't the effin man. He has partly himself to blame. He lobbied for us to draft Graham and took his fellow U brethren under his wing. He created a monster and his replacement.

I got no ill will towards Shockey. Dude just wants to win football games.

I wish I had a buck for every game Shockey caught one pass, got tackled awkwardly, hobbled to the sideline, then was out for 2 weeks.

Idiot/troll again

You try getting lead over the middle and getting hit full speed by an NFL safety.. it's kinda what tight ends do.

Seriously. I have respect for the guy because he wasn't afraid to put himself in harms way for the team. I loved the guy and was sad when we cut him. The injuries were mounting up though.

I hear ya AIH.

Shockey has definitely been made of tin these last few years with all of his injuries, and people saying its because of his party/conditioning is debatable at best. He just simply couldn't stay healthy for what ever reason and yes I agree it was annoying. Im not too mad at his comments about Payton, but its kinda of dick move when I'm sure Payton meant everything he said about him in that statement. Jeremy, you're in a business where youth reigns supreme and getting paid to mentor players for another year isn't in the budget.

but you can't deny he gave everything out on the field every sunday, was a great blocker, made tough catches that he paid the price for and was huge in the locker room.

The teacher will be the student this sunday as you watch from the sidlines as Graham puts on another clinic once again.

Good luck and thanks for everything Shockey!

Love Shockey... I'm very thankful for the energy he brought and the hard play he used every game injured or not.

But he is a Panther now, an opposing team in our division. frick him. frick Carolina. Monday, after we dismember that entire team, I will like him again.

Along with Williams/Stewart, Steve Smith, and Cam's threat to run, it creates a lot of matchup problems for defenses.

Still wear your 88 jersey (that you bought to replace your 68 one, of course -- although I'm guessing you still wear that one sometimes) around town, don't you?

talk about technicalities....how about watching your own team win the Superbowl from effectively the outside.

that said, I like Shockey and wish him well, but he was always getting hurt and we had a phenom behind him.

Shockey and Reggie are both good players - when they're healthy!
