The breakdown was as follows:

Ryan Clark ... Tedy Bruschi

64% Panthers 60%

17% Falcons 20%

5% Saints 10%

14% Buccaneers 10%

Ryan said that the Saints are going backwards. They are not improving and not enough offensive weapons. When he gave us 5%, he said it will be hard for him to go home and get a good meal.

Teddy said that we can't play defense, period. It's not a problem with the defensive coordinators but a problem with the fundamentals such as bad tackling, bad angles and approaches by safeties, and LBers that don't read their keys. You have to go back and re-coach these guys foundationally.

I do agree with Teddy, he is alluding to the good old boy friends that are positional defensive coaches. Good defensive coordinators, that do not pick their staff.

We're not going to be anybody's favorite to win the division this off-season.

I think we have upgraded offensively, and they are a top tier offense every single year. They haven't been worse than 6th offensively in the Brees era.

The problem is defense. Top 20 defense and we are looking at 10+ wins. I think they will still be bad defensively just not near as bad as last season. I'll take a guess and say they'll finish 24th defensively this season. And I think that'll be enough to improve the record to 9-10 wins.

The saints are becoming the bottom feeders of the division once again. If some of you would take off your black and gold shades you would realize this. Also brees is no longer a championship caliber quarterback the guy is fading fast.

I agree with you 100%. Teddy's defensive assessment is what I found interesting.

can't really disagree with that. I don't think it happens all the time but definitely enough to where it is a problem.

the Redskins game last year was a game that comes mind. Some of the effort or lack thereof was embarrassing to watch. It was as if they had been notified that they wouldn't receive a game check before hand.

I agree with you about the offense. Ryan was talking stupid about the offense.

How can you even say Brees has regressed? He had arguably one of his best seasons last year. The problem has and always will be defense.

This doesn't make sense to me. Lose Colston & Watson, gain Thomas & Fleener. Thomas has yet to play a down in the NFL, but I believe this is an improvement. And, at worst our line will be as good as they were at the end of last year; which was better than their overall ranking.

I predicted that if they could clean up a few things and if Fairley & Rankins play the way we expect; at a minimum they should be able to cut about 50 yds/gm and 5 points/gm. That would jump them to 23rd overall & 20th scoring.

Did our offense not get better this offseason when we replaced Watson and Colston w/ Fleener and Thomas and w/ Spiller healthy?

Yeah the offensive comments are ridiculous and stupid.

The defense comments are legit. We will just have to wait and see.

I agree. With better guard play, we may reach our usual lead the league offensive ranking. Ryan is no homer, he can eat at the golden arches, for what I care about his opinion.

He definitely is, on paper.

I think the 60% is low for the Panthers. They are far and away the best team in the division.

Biggest issue now is lack of corners. Before you had to dial against bene since Norman shut your guy down. Now, the whole field is open.

When you have a ref that lives in Carolina, graduated from college in Carolina, who gives a speech in Carolina about never forgetting where your from right before the Saints Carolina game, and who allows four 12 men in the huddle plays for the game, you may be right that the % is too low.

For htran90: I look forward to reading real Saints news. Your post and just a few others, make the grade.
