I gave day 1 a solid C-... Hated the Peat pick at first...
After day 2 it makes a lot more sense. We've upgraded the LB corps majorly, we've got our QB and one of our T's of the future and we grabbed a CB who fell a lot farther than expected. He was a 2nd round talent. Good pick.
I'm going with B+. Glad to see this team choosing a definitive path: prepare for life after Brees.

Like I said I think he can be a really good OT in the league, but it was just such an unnecessary pick when we would have been fine at OT for at least the next 2 or 3 years.
The saints needed depth at the tackle position. The expectation that for 2-3 years your two starting tackles won't miss games due to injury is silly. Depth was their problem last year and now that's been addressed.

Let's see we drafted the best OT in the draft at 13 (almost impossible to do historically speaking). The best ILB in the draft. Huge need. The guy who led the nation in sacks last year. The most Brees-like QB in the draft and a nickel back for our defense.
How is this a bad draft?
B+
Agree

So much stupidity on the first page of this thread. . .
B+ for me. Very solid draft.

I'm bookmarking this thread. Plenty of tard up in here.
Great draft so far, imo.
Plenty of prospects with potential to contribute, start, and excel some in this year, and some in the near future.

Calm down people. So far the only thing that I would change is drafting a QB in round 5 instead of the third round.
OL
ILB
OLB
CB
These were all positions of need. So, the draft has been great, as far as specific players you never know for sure until they actually play in the NFL.

Nobody likes OL, but after armstead or strief went down... Brees got destroyed. Makes a lot of sense for depth and possibly even having book end tackles for years. I felt like Dupree or DVP were sexier picks, but day 2 made it obvious.
Anthony was a clear obvious pick, no explanation needed.
Kikaha is a clear pass rusher, we gave up way too many 3rd down plays and he will clearly help with that. Very productive
Grayson. If they're high on him, I'm fine with it. I would have loved to move up and taken strong though
Pj Williams, can never have too many cbs, he dropped due to the dui but he was a first round talent. This was by far the best potential pick we made.

I don't know where you guys are getting the Peat as a developmental pick stuff. Dude is ready to play now. Check out National Football Post and Greg Cosell, who I respect a lot. This is what he said about him:
"I actually think as we speak today that Peat is the best overall left tackle prospect in this draft class. He's got a tremendous combination of size and movement ... He's more of a power left tackle than a finesse, movement athletic left tackle but because he's so big and he does move well he certainly can line up and play left tackle in the NFL. I think he could line up and play left tackle in the NFL as a rookie."
David Shaw said he has Jonathan Ogden potential.
People are shitting on this pick because it doesn't fit what they wanted (pass rusher). Same as when everybody shite themselves over with Jarvis Jones, who sucks by the way.
Who should we have picked instead looking back? I wanted Beasley, but that was a pipe dream. Davante Parker...not impressed. Not that fast, skinny, can't get two feet in, ha.
Don't underestimate the importance of a swing tackle. The confusing part for me at first was, where the frick does he play?
Two points:
1. The Saints always seem to draft a year ahead in the first round. Cooks had a year to adjust before becoming the man and we ship out Stills, slow down Colston. Vaccaro had a year before taking over for Harpkins. Jordan...Will Smiff, etc. etc.
Same thing here. He's either going to come in and dominate, take over for Strief, who might fall off a fricking cliff like Stinch, or...
2. He plays the Strief role in 2009. He backs up both T positions, and is a HUGE upgrade to Harris. Remember our Super Bowl, the only one we ever won? Strief played that role. It was also our best rushing year...See the pattern?
Kikaha, again by Cosell and National Football Post as well as other scouting services was rated as one of the best, if not the best, pass rusher in the draft.
Anthony was a leader on a great D and our most athletic MLB with brains since Vilma.
Grayson, meh, but he was again rated by Cosell as the third best QB in the draft.
frick Kiper and all these other clowns. Cosell knows a shite load more.
And the last guy, again, is smart and was rated as the better prospect by most scouts of his teammate who went a round higher.
We owned this draft imo.
