Impressive yes but I'm curious how much of that came against "prevent" defense?

Saints had the lead or took the lead in almost every one of these games late in the 4th.

The fact that there are just 2 Ints in there and we've trailed so much should be pretty telling.

We may have had a better chance at Josh Norman. Instead of going to Washington, Norman comes here first as an F You to the Panthers and we don't let him leave without a contract. He probably didn't come here because he didn't think that we had the cap room available. Same for Josh Sitton.

Ugh, he literally had a deal in place for Norman to sign here.

Feel free to google it.

The problem is that all non saints fans and media not paying attention to Saints games will brush these off as garbage time stats when he's actually playing the best football we've ever seen him play (minus 2011 and maybe 2009, but I'd say he's improved in not forcing it and throwing too many picks). Even in that horrendous loss last night, Brees was amazing. His deep ball accuracy is unmatched

Only 3 of those teams were under .500, but it is early.

The numbers since his injury are also extremely impressive.

The average defense in the 5 games last year equaled ~15

plus 8-8 ATL in 15'.

plus a texan's defense that didnt play nearly as well out of their division

OAK and ATL this year are 32th and 30th in the NFL in yards allowed

This is the perfect opportunity to talk shite on Loomis, so that's what I am going to do.

Loomis is a jabroni.

Nope.

Anyways, that defense was absolutely dominant at the end of the year. I could have sworn that division had NFL teams too.

Division or not, holding 6 of your last 8 opponents to under a touchdown is insane.

Nothing to do with playing the Saints. I mean those are the top 3 offenses in the NFL by the same logic. Do you think oakland has the 32nd defense in the NFL?

This is the NFL. But you're right, what am I saying. This isn't impressive. Even bringing those into the equation, it comes out to around the league average in defenses faced in those 8 games

I never said it wasn't impressive. But I don't think it is impressive enough to bring it up as much as you do given the competition.

Weekly to bi-weekly? Not like I'm going in every thread and starting a loomis rant again.

Any other policing requests? Would hate to litter this board and take away from all the fire everyone threads.

Simple solution if you don't like it: Don't comment on it

Im not policing. I was just commenting that is needs some context.

Houston Def, btw

23.8ppg (out of division). Would have been 19th in the league

12.5ppg in AFC South vs Hasselbeck & Mariota & Bortles.

That isn't how the NFL works though. Jacksonville had a good offense too. They played some great offenses outside of their division too, including being the first team in the Brees/Payton era to hold us out the endzone

That is the crazy thing about the NFL. You can lose any game. The Saints 2012 defense had a shutout. The Browns beat the Saints in 2010 and the Rams in 2011.

But the Texans weren't included in those numbers as we played them 9 games ago, and our offensive line was murdered.

Football Outsiders

And I hear you on competition. Even adjusting for that, they came out #8. I don't like looking at total O or D either, as it is misleading. The Saints did not have the #2 offense in the NFL last year, but the offensive line completely changed after Peat and Kelemete started playing more, even with Armstead's absence. I think it was a mistake to have Kelemete play G instead of tackle last night.

This thread was started, along with my other one I think I had, due to all the negativity surrounding Brees and the extension. Just trying to give perspective.

Hell, 631 was filled with idiots last night blaming the season on him. Think it is time to upgrade next year.

Sorry for being bitchy. Flew out of Nola at 6 am to head to work. Been a long, procrastination filled day
