Drew will never be the team leader he once was...

Brees had a confidence and air of invulnerability that helped cement him as a great leader. Now that his teammates have neutered him, he may feign having that leadership but it will never be the same.
Read his tweet today. He is now consumed with groveling rather than retaking leadership. How often will he now measure every comment he makes pregame or after a play? How often will he try to make a request rather than bark a command?
Add to that malcontents like Jenkins who will be more concerned with scraping the Fleur de lis off his helmet than defending passes and this team will be in the division basement.

Sorry to break it to you, but he never had his teammates' respect. If he did, they would have given him the benefit of the doubt and talked to him about their concerns privately. That's what champions do.

Actually, after reading many posts and interviews from the players, I feel that he may be MORE of a team leader now, even if it's only for his last season. The dude has skin in the game and is a first ballot hall of Famer. His teammates are galvanizing around him now, especially with knuckleheads on other teams saying that they're coming for him. He will transition team leadership to D. Davis and to whomever the starting QB is next year, which, I'm guessing, will be Winston. I think Winston just threw another interception while I was typing this.
