Would love that. That probably means we ran it at least 200 times with Ingram plus another 170-175 with AP. I firmly believe that's the key to success this year.

Staying patient and unpredictable with it. That's what made Atlanta so damn effective and deadly last year.

I think the statement "if it is 3rd and long we're out of luck." is an erroneous supposition. Last year the Saints ranked 4th in pass plays over 20 yards with 41.

The Saints led the NFL in 3rd downs made, % conversion.

side note- led in 4th downs made and 2nd in % conversion

He wont have any problems. He is still one of the fastest players in the NFL.

We need to add a FA receiver or hope one of these UDFA's is a gem. If Michael Thomas goes down our receiving corps is looking mighty rough

Well he threw for more yards in 2016 than 2009 so obviously it is not an issue. I don't understand what everyone's fascination is with the deep ball and his arm strength. He is in a West Coast Offense which revolves around short passes. We were the best team in the league on 3rd down last year and 3rd and long is hard for any team to convert no matter who is QB. The NFL average on completions over 20 yards is less than 10%. Yes Drew Brees is getting old and probably doesn't have much more than 2-3 years left in him ,but his arm strength is fine and he is at the point in his career where his passes are based more on timing than velocity meaning he knows where are WR will be where the defender will be before it happens. We will need a QB soon ,but no need to reach right now.

Well if passing yards and 5000 yard seasons gave you championships brees would have 5 rings. His total number of passing yards does not directly correlate with his level of play and has almost zero correlation with arm strength

You are the one emphasising his arm strength and that we need to basically go out and get a new QB now. His level of play has been remarkably consistent ,and he is not the reason we have been out of the playoffs it has been the historically bad defense we have had. Yes everyone knows he is up against father time and we will need a new QB ,but there are too many mental midgets on this board who want to blow it up now and start with a younger QB.

Let's be honest. If any team's number 1 receiver goes down, outside of maybe the Giants, then everyone's WR corps will be rough.

Willie Snead was an undrafted free agent who had two season combined for over 1800 yards. If you have a great QB they can make average an WR or TE look great.

Snead was a diamond in the rough. He will succeed if he gets the notion to play elsewhere. He plays big like Walker did, and has good hands. Saints better keep him for 8+ years.

I believe Drew is still an elite QB and will get another ring in New Orleans,

He may be an elite QB but he will not win another Super Bowl in NoLa. He has 3 years at best and the Stains still don't have a defense. They may score 35 points per game but the defense will still give up 38.

He's made up for that in wisdom and smarts and patience that he didn't have at 25. That's why he's still able to perform at an elite level... as you said in your original post

I dont see how anyone could look at the 2016 film and think we are in some kind of trouble regarding brees.

This "09" highlight reel has 4 games from 2006, one playoff game from 06, and 2 regular season games from 2010.
