Man, was he ever wrong.

The dirty birds are awful, and with no excuses.

Dude. Who cares, we aren't having a particularly great year either.

Where exactly does that place us, considering we have lost to them already and don't look much better?

Honestly I'm more embarrassed as a Saints fan just because I had such high expectations. Yikes.

It wasn't just the fans. Many of the "experts", analysts, and talking heads were picking Saints to go SB. The magnitude of meltdown versus expectations is pretty damn extreme.

The experts being wrong makes it even more embarrassing IMO

I can see how you feel that way.

To me this season shows how fine the line is between winning and losing in the NFL. Nobody was calling for anything close to a winning season for the Cowgirls. But their commitment to building a bad arse o-line has turned that team around. Pass rushers and pass protectors have been neglected by Payton for too long, and it has fully caught up to us.

Agreed. We need to focus on interior on both sides of the ball from now on IMO. Throw in a corner or 2 as well.

I'm with you. I think Payton got caught up with the "win now" mentality, trading up for Cooks, etc. I like Cooks, but a couple studs on the lines would have done a lot more for this team. I actually think our DBs could get the job done, with a decent pass rush. Detroit is proof of that.

What were we calling our secondary during the offseason.

Who honestly would have expected this line to perform THIS bad though?

Personally, I thought we'd fall back down to earth, middle of the pack in sacks, but bottom 5 was not something I saw coming. We had 2 DEs that combined for 24.5sacks, we had a DT/NT in Jenkins who is still young and played 60%+ snaps and created a good push, a "mini-monster" in Hicks with all the reports saying a breakout year and his improvement every year in the league, a solid run stuffer in Bunkley, rotation guys that performed well last year, and Victor Butler coming back.

No one expected or predicted us to become THIS bad in pass rush, especially with Butler coming back, we had a legitimate guy opposite of Galette. Then Butler gets hurt again, so we assume we go back to 2013. Now we're bottom 5, whereas last year we were 4th.

Going into the offseason, we alls aid LB, #2CB, and S were our biggest issues on defense. We signed Byrd and Bailey and had PRob coming back, that took care of it. We were gonna go the 4-2-5 route, triple safety again. But this time, we had a ball hawk, a 2nd year player who was VERY good for us, and re-signing a starter caliber safety in Bush. We thought it worked last year because of the pass rush, we could make it work again and #2 CB was not gonna be THIS big of an issue.

Not one person put it on their radar that our DT was gonna be the issue, not one analyst either.

What I wanna know is why Jordan is playing so poorly.

Dude has been an absolute beast since he's entered the NFL until now.

Agreed. I have been worried about our o-line for 3 years running. That was my main concern coming into this season. And it sure is bad with respect to pass protection.

The one thing about our d-line last year, that I couldn't shake - is I thought they played over their head. But ya, no way did I think they would revert to the 2012 results.
