kinda like an extra pick this year. Not familiar with this source but sez it is founded by Vince Lombardi Jr.
After losing his entire rookie season to an injury, New Orleans Saints cornerback P.J. Williams is projected to take on a significant role within the Saints’ secondary in 2016.
Williams, a former third-round pick out of Florida State, suffered a season-ending hamstring injury before the start of the regular season. With the loss of Williams, former CFL star Delvin Breaux and Brandon Browner took a majority of the first-team snaps.
Though Breaux seemed to shine under the limelight (PFF’s eighth-ranked cornerback in 2015), Browner did quite the opposite. According to ProFootballFocus.com, Browner graded out as the worst NFL cornerback among the 111 eligible in 2015.
The Saints allowed the second-most passing yards per game and a league-high 45 touchdowns in 2015, via NFL.com.
Though New Orleans will need several difference-makers on their defense before they emerge as a top passing defense in this league, head coach Sean Payton believes that Williams is capable of excelling in a starting role in the secondary.
“P.J. Williams is smart,” Payton said shortly after Day 2 of the 2015 NFL draft, via NewOrleansSaints.com. “He’s got really good football IQ. I see him being a guy that will be able to come in and compete with the rest of these guys on the outside. I do think that he is someone that should be able to play with these guys in the nickel defense, so we are hopeful he can come in and compete for that spot. He’s got a lot of good younger and veteran players ahead of him. I do think he learns very quickly, so that gives him a chance to play on the inside as well as the outside.”
At 6’0”, 194 pounds, Williams possesses an ideal combination of size and speed that will allow him to remain versatile as an inside or outside cornerback. Williams’ physical, aggressive demeanor pairs well with his ability to press receivers at the line of scrimmage and play the run.
There were some concerns regarding his inconsistent effort during his career at Florida State, and a poor decision on his part prior to the draft led to him falling into the third-round.
Though his charges were eventually dropped, Williams was arrested for a DUI on April 3 2015, via ESPN.com.
Williams accumulated 74 combined tackles (52 solo) and one interception in his final year with the Seminoles, which as a result, he was selected to the 2014 second-team All-ACC.
Given his versatility, Williams could make an impact as a rotational player in nickel packages or even work his way up to the No. 2 corner spot opposite of Breaux in 2016. Though Williams won’t have his spot on the roster simply handed to him after missing the entire 2015 season, Payton isn’t necessarily in a position to overlook Williams’ skill set and overall potential given the Saints lack of talent at the position. Look for Williams to start making headlines come training camp and the start of the preseason as one of New Orleans’ emerging corners this offseason.

I have zero clue about our safety play this year as everyone else does as well(leads me to think a 2-4 rnd pic is possible) but healthy our corner backs are good.
And while I'm not a "extra pick" guy cause well...its not, I am eager to see him get some snaps this camp.

I'm very excited about PJ. He has starting CB potential. He has just battled injuries and off the field problems. Hopefully those are behind him now

Not forgotten.
...but impossible to count on at this point.
Same with Swann and Lewis, unfortunately.
Nice post, hope we hit on those draft picks.

We need to maximize the guys from last year's draft. They have such high potentials and can turn this unit into a good group if they gel

Davis Tull is still in a great spot as long as Ellerbe stays healthy. He can battle for PT against Robertson and Stupar while learning the game in a reserve role from the vets around him.
PJ Williams will not be given the same courtesy. Even if Lewis is back he will be expected to play serious minutes this year.

Don't forget about what? The fact that he's played exactly zero NFL snaps and we have no idea what to expect from him, good or bad? He is not somebody that can be penciled in and counted on yet.

Meh. Judging by last year with our shitty group, 3 CBs are gonna play majority of the snaps. Significant snaps for a 4th, but nothing too heavy.
Swann was that 4th last year and he got hurt.
Breaux
Browner
Wilson
Swann
To
Breaux
Lewis (let us pray)
Wilson
Swann/PJ
...healthy Lewis, we look good
Otherwise, god help us

This was my question. Does Tull have the potential to be more than a special teams guy.

Definitely need Lewis healthy or for Williams to be a homerun pick.

Tull/Dupree
BR draft
some draft site
Has some upside it seems. If you hate small hand he's not your guy.

PFF fan here....they cut us off...sell outs.
He had a few green pass-rushing grades in preseason last year.

Work in progress. If he can start it wont be this year.
I went back and read that when I first opened the thread. I'm trying to find ways around saying things like "he's a high motor guy" and "he plays hard every play" because he's white and that feels cliche to say . But I do like having that guy that has something to prove and hustles. Obviously pulling for anyone that wears the black and gold, but I'm excited to see if he can break onto the field in some capacity. Shouldn't be that difficult considering our D.

If he can be an energy reserve this year that can make a stand out play from time to time I would be thrilled. That and as long as his PFF grades don't bleed lol.
