That's what John Fourcade and Brian Allee-Walsh just said on the Morning Drive (New Orleans 690 AM).

Do you concur?

No, Greg Williams was just too busy helping Bama out to get a gameplan together.

Thank you. No way Smith outplayed Brees. If the Saints had anyone but Brees at quarterback, they get blown out.

I remember John Fourcade came in at the end of one season for 3 games and looked like a championship quarterback. The next season... nothing. Threw off his back foot a lot...

Two interceptions proved to be easily the difference in the game. Zero doubt Alex played the better game.

Maybe if Smith was playing against the same caliber of defense. He wasn't however.

One of his interceptions Devery fell down. I doubt it would have been intercepted if Devery hadn't fallen down. No way Smith outplayed Brees that game. We couldn't run the ball and Brees had to throw the whole game and threw for over 461 yards and 4 scores. Smith was throwing to one receiver we couldn't cover for 61% of his 299 yards.

if they played against each other he might outplay him. unfortunately (for us) he got to play against 11 other less talented- or coached- players.

I don't think that's really neither here nor there as an excuse of 2 interceptions vs none.

You forgot to mention the part about passing the ball 62 times. Yes I said 6 and a 2.

Proved to be pretty effective wouldn't you think?

Because we couldn't run the ball. We had a 2.5yd average per run on 14-15 carries.

Yep. Jenkins and Harper couldn't cover him for shite that game.

Even on his best day, Alex Smith could not out play Drew Brees. There's a world of difference between the two.....Smith has a long ways to go before he can play at the same level Brees can.

So Smith should have stopped throwing to Davis?

You could also argue that Brees has a shite load more weapons to use. Why isn't anyone bringing up that point.

Nope, I think I could have completed some passes to Davis that game.

so you think Alex Smith had to throw into the same coverage and defensive pressure as Brees?

Looks like someone just likes stirring the pot.

It's hard to defend a pass when you are falling down and the other guy is in the air.
