Am I reading this right? Did ESPN go out looking for some dirt on the Saints and manufactured this story?

Sorry if Germans.

SportsbyBrooks tweeted the other day that ESPN and Barr were the ones who took the info to the authorities, so that way they could then report the investigation.

They did, but it's not that unusual. Plenty of people out there willing to peddle ugly stories. Story still needs to be accurate though if you're gonna print it.

I hope the Saints take legal action against ESPN on this. ESPN should be exposed as a player in this mess and not just reporters.

New Orleans, La. - Multiple sources, including those close to the Saints and the Superdome, tell FOX 8 News a former sound and electrical worker for the Saints, Tim Landry, is the initial source who told ESPN's John Barr that Mickey Loomis' Superdome box had been secretly re-wired to listen in on visiting teams' coaching staffs.

You get a lot of that and it's not true, ESPN doesbt have a vendetta against La sports teams.

This story in particular though does stink of substandard journalism.

All this "he said, she said" crap..the saints went 12-12 at home from 2002-2004, so did it really help even if they did?..loomis is the fricking GM, not the head coach...why doesnt ESPN go back and investigate Pete Rose betting on baseball games again or for that matter, write shite about Roger Clemens retrial on lying to a grand jury.. they must be super bored, they have nothing else better to do!..

Just the fact ESPN stooped so low to manufacter a story should put all sports teams on alert to keep ESPN as far away from their teams as possible. I can see this blowing up in ESPNs face.

If the manufactured statement is true then maybe Goodell should pull ESPN's tv contract for a year... the precedent has been set.

Come on if the was not the Saints you wouldn't say that.
I am a saints fan, but now Saints fans can never make fun of LSU fans for believing ESPN hates them.
Never understood why Saints fans that are not LSU fans have an anti LSU attitude.
