Had a strip sack on Cam Robinson. Barnett will be special...played consistent even w/ all the attention he drew from the O Line.

1st round pick Derek Barnett DE
2nd round pick Beckwith OLB
3rd round pick Guard/TE

Did he get those stats after 3 years? If so that is an amazing 3 years statistically he has had.

I think unless Barnett has an average combine we will need to package that 3rd to move up and get him.

First off, Williams will run faster than 4.80. He will be in the 4.6 range. You are seriously underestimating his speed

he won't, and I'm not. That's what he ran in spring testing. His first ten yards will be as good as any edge guy at the combine, but he is not a 4.6 forty guy.

quote:

Carl Lawson is a better pass rusher than Walker & better against the run than Williams

based on what? He is neither. Auburn and FSU had similar defenses so it's not like Walker was on the field more to rack these numbers up. Stats from this year:

Walker- 63 tackles, 15.5 TFL, 15 sacks, 3 FF
Williams- 27 tackles, 15.5 TFL, 8.5 sacks 2 FF
Lawson- 28 tackles, 13 TFL, 9.5 sacks, 1 FF

just curious what you're basing that opinion of Lawson on since those stats I listed for him are career highs and he's been hurt his whole career. The sack stats for the last two seasons really shows a discrepancy

Walker- 9, 15
Williams- 9.5, 8.5
Lawson- 1, 9.5

The first two guys are proven, consistent pass rushers. Lawson shows flashes

He's heavier than Von Miller

We will see about that.

Which is why his overall numbers are below Williams & Walker. In 2015, there wasn't anyone else worth having to chip or double on Auburn's offensive line so he got plenty of attention from opposing teams. This year was a bit different with Adams in the middle needing attention too.

just curious what you're basing that opinion of Lawson

A healthy Lawson is better than Walker. It's my opinion from watching a ton of games involving both players. It doesn't mean Walker is terrible or won't be a good pro but I feel Lawson has the bigger upside.

No he is not.

Von Miller is 250 lbs

Von Miller

Tim Williams is 237 lbs & I think that is generous. We will see if he tries to bulk up for the Combine.

Tim Williams

Barnett will go top 5. Barring a trade up, he will not be around when the Saints pick.

2nd round pick Beckwith OLB

Not with him dealing with an ACL tear. Prior to tearing his ACL this would have been a nice pick in the 2nd. He is probably going to miss rookie camp & be limited at the beginning of training camp. That's never easy for a rookie to miss that much of training right at the beginning of his career especially a rookie who would potentially have Joe Vitt as his position coach.

At the playoff media days last year he said he was up to 260. I think that's stretching it, but he's heavier than 237. He was listed at 242 going into the 2015 season

He played sparingly as sophomore & got more playing time as a junior & senior. Don't act he hasn't had extra games over Lawson with the SEC Championship Game & College Football Playoffs every season either.

On what planet?

I think Tim Williams may have the quickest burst of all the pass rushers in this draft class but he is light for a DE & even for an OLB. Until he can put on weight, NFL tackles are going to maul him in the run game unless he is able to use his quickness to slip blocks.

umm. I literally just posted how many games each has participated in during their career. Williams has participated in 3 more games than Lawson.

I'm relaying what the dude said, that came from the horses mouth.

^ This guy doesn't look 247 pounds, but that's what he weighed in this picture. Same as Derrick Henry, same as Vonn Miller. It's not far fetched to think Williams has put on 5 pounds since September 2015.

@ you if you think Tim Williams is 260. College programs are historically known to exaggerate weight & heights. Is that why Saban mostly used him as a pass rush specialist in obvious passing situations in 2015 though? I even posted the link that had his highest weight. Most other places have him in the 230s which is probably more accurate.

Well, on running downs he would play A'shawn Robinson, Jarran Reed, and Jon Allen. They are good at stopping the run. On passing downs he brought in Tim Williams, he is good at rushing the passer. Is that supposed to be some sort of "gotcha"?

The article you linked raved about his elite ability so I'm really not sure what you're trying to get at. I'll bet you my 401k he weighs more than 237 at the combine, just let me know buttercup

What I'm getting at is what I originally said to begin with. Williams is really good pass rusher with probably the best first step of any the pass rushers in this draft. I said he was susceptible to the run in the NFL (which Saban even thought so on the college level in 2015) because of his weight unless he uses quickness to slip blocks of bigger offensive linemen.

Are you new to following the draft process? Oh course he is going to start bulking up after Bama season is over when the being undersized at the NFL level talk starts pre combine. Just in recent years we've seen players like Randy Gregory & Vic Beasley bulk up right before the combine. Williams will do it too.

I thought you guys were sister frickers in Alabama & not f@gs.
