Pretty sure Cowboys will still have to pay Ware a good bit won't they? If that's the case, it wouldn't honestly be completely unrealistic to get him on say a one year deal.

Jerry Jones said he wouldn't be surprised if he came back a Cowboy. But money talks so we'll see.

Cap guys, how much space would it free up if Hawthorne and Bunkley were cut without the June 1st designation? Would that create enough room to sign Ware and keep Strief?

Their cap savings wouldn't be seen until June 2, so it wouldn't help us in free agency right now. Team could still restructure several big deals on the team and clear about $20-$30mil in space. However, that would put the team in absolute dire straits for the foreseeable future financially.

Bunkley and Hawthorne (as pre June 1st cuts) would save us 1.275 million and negative 1.205 million; so they would technically cancel each other out.

As June 1st cuts, they'd save us 6.5 million but we'd have to carry their salaries until June 1st which doesn't help us now.

As for DeMarcus Ware:

I'm telling you, I've followed him closely for the past few years because he was on my IDP defense for the last three and he is not the same monster he once was... He's a serviceable player but all the injuries and him playing through most of them have taken their toll.

Saints should not spend big on him, at all.

I'm not sure that's possible unless we cut some people we haven't even thought of cutting. And that'll be players coming from the offense, because our defensive players aren't that expensive as of now.

Are you sure that's not due to position change?

He should have performed better at the DE position IMO but once again, hindered by nagging injuries.
