Just a few thoughts...

-I don't really have an opinion on the QB situation. Hopefully CSP makes the right decision.

-Cutting Latavius Murray saves decent amount of money, but if it were up to me...I'd keep him for 4.2 mil. I'd also re-sign Ty Montgomery for league minimum again.

-We need another TE to go along with Trautman & Josh Hill. I'd like to sign a F.A. TE, but not Jared Cook. I think he might have screwed himself as far as playing for the Saints goes.

-7.0 mil is too much for Nick Easton. Either cut him or get him to take a paycut. Re-sign Hurst again for league minimum.

-Replace Morstead with Blake Gillikin.

-I'd take Rankins back if he gives us a discount. He was getting to the QB pretty good at the end of the year. He might take it to another level next year since he'll be 2 years removed from tearing his achilles.

-Hendrickson will probably be too expensive imo.

-13.4 mil is too much for Kwon & his dead cap is $0. Either cut him or restructure his contract.

-Jack Rabbit at 14.2 mil is too much money.

-Marcus Williams is our UFA that we need to re-sign the most imo. Nobody else on the roster can do what he can do.

Our cap situation sucks right now, but we have a lot of options to create some space. Spotrac & Overthecap differ on some of these players, so some of these numbers aren't entirely accurate.

-Brees retiring after June 1st saves about 25.0 mil

-Cutting Latavius Murray saves 2.5 mil...cutting him after June 1st saves 3.35 mil

-Cutting Emmanuel Sanders saves 6.5 mil

-Cutting Josh Hill saves about 2.5 mil

-Cutting Armstead saves 6.675 mil...cutting him after June 1st saves about 12.0 mil

-Cutting Nick Easton saves 6.0 mil

-Cutting Morstead saves 2.5 mil...cutting him after June 1st saves 3.5 mil

-Cutting Malcolm Brown saves 5.0 mil

-Cutting Kwon Alexander saves 13.4 mil

-Cutting Lattimore saves 10.2 mil

-Cutting Jack Rabbit saves 7.0 mil...cutting him after June 1st saves 10.0 mil

-Cutting Patrick Robinson saves 2.6 mil

There are other options, but these are the players that are the most logical & save the most money. We could also have some of these guys restructure their contracts or take a paycut.

I hope Clapp isn't signed back so I can hear this board bitch about no LSU players on the roster. After looking at Clapp a few years now you know why Payton doesn't like LSU players.

Well, we would still have Kwon Alexander if we keep him for 2021.

We need to do something about his contract though for that to happen imo.

Good player but no way he survives the cuts unless they give him a new contract.

And considering what he'll get, he's not going to take the contract he should based on his injuries so he's probably getting cut.

The good news is that we can cut Kwon & not take a dead money hit at all.

We would save his entire cap #...13.4 mil. That's a good chunk of cap space.

We would also need to find a starting LB though. Either F.A. or a 1st/2nd round pick.

We could re-sign Anzalone, but I hope we go another direction. He's not the player he used to be after all the injuries. He's basically a backup LB now imo. He's ok for LB depth, but that's it at this point.

Jared Cook - UFA

OTC shows Cook w a 21 salary of 1M, prorated bonus of 2M & a roster Bonus of 8.5M and won't be a FA until '22

They can cut him, void last year, and just eat the 2M; but he's technically not a FA

He costs us 2 mil in 2021, but he isn't under contract. Almost 100% positive that he's an UFA in 2021. Every article I've read has him listed as an UFA.

He played better this year but I’m still not resigning him. I know he is good in coverage but I’m tired of watching him whiff on tackles and I’m not just talking about the minny game. If we could get Trevon Moehrig in the draft that would be a homerun. Could do it all and is better in run support.

Payton should have cut him on the field after the bucs game

Josh hill-2.7 mil
Malcolm brown-5.5 mil(love him)
Nick easton- 6 mil.

Can't believe cam's # is 19 mil. Crazy high for what he is giving you.

I am very surprised that Cam has never (or i have never seen it) mentioned as trade bait knowing that Hendrickson can potentially fill in. Not sure what Hendrickson may command in his free agent year, but this has to be something the FO looks at right?

Before i get jumped, i love Cam and think he is a good as it gets in the blocker room and in the community. Do not want to see him go, but having a younger replacement in house seems like an option.

This would not surprise me one bit. Cam is great but didn’t play as well this year. With Brees gone we could start seeing some of the older guys leaving in order to free up money for the younger guys. With us being cap strapped may be semi rebuild next year

It's an interesting thought, he is 31 and has been in the league for 10 years. But, it wouldn't make sense to trade him before the draft. The cap savings would only be 2M, and if you trade him after 6/1 you can save 14M but you don't get the draft capital to help for '21.

I don’t get what everyone sees in him. He comes over late on a lot of throws and is not a good tackler.

For the cost/savings, you're gonna have to replace him. Kamara isn't a 400 touch RB and you'll need someone to pound with Kamara. Now if you're telling me Ingram comes back on a 1/minimum contract, sure why not. Otherwise, Murray's cost:production is good and I think if he's available it makes a difference vs TB. 169 touches, a little over 800 yards, and 5 TDs with 0 turnovers.

quote:

-Cutting Armstead saves 6.675 mil...cutting him after June 1st saves about 12.0 mil

You just don't cut a top 5-10 LT who's been healthy and continues to be productive. 32 yo Duane Brown was able to be traded, you better believe Terron Armstead can get something in return too.

quote:

-Cutting Nick Easton saves 6.0 mil

I think he retires honestly

quote:

-Cutting Malcolm Brown saves 5.0 mil

He's been very important in regards to run defense for us, while its not hard to find a NT who can do those things (Tyeler Davidson had some good years), I think we actually extend him.

quote:

-Cutting Lattimore saves 10.2 mil

Trade bait IMHO

quote:

-Cutting Jack Rabbit saves 7.0 mil...cutting him after June 1st saves 10.0 mil

This is one you either cut, redo his deal, or extend him to move money around. NO way we go into 2021 with 0 of our top 2 corners.

No way they trade lattimore.

They finally have an elite defense.

I think they move some money around on jackrabbit's deal.

They won't cut murray either.

Correct me if I’m wrong, but doesn’t trading save us more money than cutting?
